A Midsummer Night's Snark

Morning folks.

So, what's on everyone's agenda today?

I'm just sipping on coffee and finishing off some writing. Then I'll maybe get some work done around the house.

Been a hectic few days. Triggs was away visiting her brother and I was in charge of the house and the dogs. Zack decided this would be a great time to get a weeping hot spot on his shoulder - very painful. Best of all, he was not willing to let me regularly treat it. Bacteria built up in the area and the hot spot spread to most of his shoulder. Turned in to a big open wound with matted hair that literally smelled like rotting flesh. Finally managed to get things under control yesterday and the wound is now drying up.

Good times.

Morning folks.
Howdy, Gus.
Ah - Poor Zack. At least you were able to eventually get him doctored up. Oz was probably sitting there like, "Goof ball, you will feel better if you just let him look at it."

It looks like it is going to be a slow day here at the office. I will probably shore up some weekend plans. Later I need to get my rear moving and start sorting through crap at the apartment and get a head-start on packing for our impending move.......

Oh yea..... A bit of news. My wife and I close on a house in a few weeks. :D

That's exactly what Oz was thinking. He had a similar outbreak a few years ago and it was dead easy working with him. Zack is definitely the problem child.

Congrats on the new house. Details please.

Thanks! I'm excited about the house and ready to get out of this apartment. I have been since I moved into it.

The house has a decent yard that butts up against an undeveloped/wooded city owned park. It has a decent garage with a bit of an alcove that will give me some extra room for a workbench and tools wile having a vehicle or two parked in the garage. I'm also glad that it should cut my commute down by about 10 miles.
It's a decent size house for the two of us and laid out well. There is some cosmetic updating we can do here or there inside, but nothing major.

We have the apartment until the end of September, so we have plenty of time to move. We anticipate taking advantage of the empty house to get some painting and stuff like that done.

some moron just shot up a news crew from the local news station on live tv :thumbdn:
Yea, I heard about that.... Awful.

Sounds like a great place! We expect pics!

It's a few hours away from me too. An unfortunate thing. Not to sound uncaring, but, I'm hoping the guy used a handgun and not an AR.

In other news, I'm finally home from being away for 17 days.

Are you in VA? And yeah, it was a pistol. They know who he is and they're chasing him now. Former employee of WDBJ.

There was a European country a few years back that had developed a problem with people committing suicide by jumping in front of subway trains. It hadn't been a problem 10 years before, but suddenly they had weekly suicides. So the government asked the media to stop reporting the suicides as this sensational thing and just focus on the misery these people caused their family and loved ones.

People stopped jumping in front of trains and the suicide rate across the country went down.

So why the hell can't we do that here with these shootings? That former employee timed it to happen live on air. He's getting exactly what he was after.

Yep. Murderers get TV time and that makes some folks want to murder.

The shooter has died in the hospital.

The media makes money off of stories that people tune in to see, as long as the society we live in continue to watch the news covering tragic stories like this one, they'll continue to cover it as thoroughly as they can. I wish our government was together enough to do something like that, but the government is controlled by the same people that control the media, I doubt anything can change until that changes.

So for the last year or so I've been looking for a good, inexpensive wool shirt jac, do any of you guys have a suggestion? I've looked at woolrich and they have a couple i like but they are a little pricy. I also really like the fred asbell hoodies, but not sure if i want a hoodies or not

just came into the shop and getting caught up on the news, terrible shame about the news crew that got killed. I just don't understand how people get so damaged.

On a good note however, I had a new apprentice start today. young guy, (well younger than me) Murph just met him in passing a couple months ago and struck up conversation with him, he got on the website, facebook and forums to check out the work, got a hold of me wanting to learn, brought him in for a interview/meet and great, and then he started today, showed up on time, anxious to learn and is chomping at the bit to learn leather work, seems like a pretty standup guy and im hoping he works out. if I cant run him off and he's still around in a month or two, I will introduce him to you guys. He seems to be a sponge right now taking this all in, I told him about the forums and he has just become a member.
