A New Folder from CRK

My thinking is if they keep the checkering pattern then there may not be inlays. The O-ring must be really small, just big enough to stop the blade from slamming against the frame but small enough to squish so there is not flex between lock and lug.

Either way it is going to be a nice design and addition to the line up.

Yep I bet no inlay option. That would be reserved to the LE's. An inlay was never offered for the reular. The blade listed at 3.675 inches is not that much larger than the large Seb I bet it has a clip. I hope they make a couple left hand ones in the first batch because I want one and maybe two, One to use and one to save! I also bet the price will be close to that of the large Seb. The grooves are  and are a great grippy part of the handle. I'd like to get one as soon as possible:thumbup::cool::p;):D:D:D

I'm with ya Scott Dog. Lefty and ASAP. I agree with the grooves; nice touch. I hope with are on the backside as well.

I have very strong feeling that this knife will be my next EDC. Currently my large Micarta inlay is my daily user. When I get my hands on a left hand model (and I hope that's soon), I will give it a lot of pocket time. It will compete with the Micartas but if it's anything like I think it will be, I doubt I'll EDC anything else (yeah and the checks in the mail!:D).

I have a feeling this is going to be a seriously cool knife. Could anyone that is at the show ask Chris or Anne if they made a left hand one yet?:thumbup:

I like it. Got to admit I thought it would be quite a bit different than the Seb but it really is a new and improved version of the Seb. In the back of my mind I thought it would be a perfect Strider SMF if you know what I mean.

Any bets on pricing?

I say $395.

Xcel if past experience is any indicator, we should be able to get left hand ones fairly quickly. I was able to get a left hand Micarta inlay shortly after they were available. I called and asked Heather to put me on the list for the first (or second if that's what it takes) left hand one that they make. She assured that she would and that seemed like well over a year ago when I made that request. It's not unreasonable at all to think that CRK would come out with a few lefties in the first batch. Let's just cross our fingers and hope!:thumbup:

I really do like the looks of this new folder except the glass breaker. Hopefully there's an option to order one without it.

The glassbreaker looks like an extension of the tang, not a separate feature inset into it. As such, I doubt it's optional. I can't see it as a problem, the way glassbreakers in the butt of the handle are for me, jabbing me when I try to palm the knife.

;):cool:I really like it and want one ASAP. My only concern is the double lug. I hope it doesn't tear up my jeans like the double thumblug pointy ones did. If so it will go in the drawer and I'll keep using my tried and true Micarta. I have a strong feeling that the thumblug won't tear up my pockets. Will a single thumblug option be offered? I highly doubt it. Will the glassbreaker be optional? Again I highly doubt it. Regardless I look forward to getting one of these ASAP. Me thinks me will like.

looks good, i do find the handle a bit busy with the milling pattern though. Other wise im liking what i see.

The glass breaker is just a feature I rather not have. It's something that I would never use in my life and I think the same would apply to most people.

The only time I could ever imagine it coming in handy is in that ultra rare emergency that I need to break out of my car because I drove it into a lake. And even in that case, I can just use the point of my knife.

My only concern is the double lug. I hope it doesn't tear up my jeans like the double thumblug pointy ones did.
You might need a thin leather clip case to tuck inside the pocket. :)

I think these rounded lugs should solve the problem, though.

The point of your knife? Into a auto glass window? I might be wrong but it sounds like stabbing through a car glass window with the point of a knife might be dangerous and not effective.

Esav, I think you are right about the rounded thumblugs not tearing up pants. A while back (more than a year ago), was talking to someone (Anne?) at CRK and they advised me not to do the double thumblug (the pointy ones) deal due to wearing out pants pockets so it's not like they aren't aware of the situation. I'm confident that they won't be an issue.

I have never done it so I don't know how effective it would be, but I don't understand how the point of the knife is any different than the point of a glass breaker, nor how it would be dangerous.

The point of the knife is much thinner than the point of the glassbreaker. With the knife open, there is a possibility that on impact, your hand could slide onto the open blade and you could get cut. I just think that the glass breaker would be a more appropriate and effective way to break auto glass in an emergency and that's just my opinion.;)

JoHn, the problem with using the point is partly angle, the tip being too far from the hand, if it turns ever so slightly, it will skid, and maybe slice into you. Also, the closer to the hand (the force) that the breaker is, the more power you can apply accurately. Stabbing the window just anywhere isn't as effective as hitting the sweet spots at the lower corners, which lets you break the rest out easily thereafter.
