A simply stunning knife (moved here from the Custom forum)

i really like lee williams knives a lot, but I am not really liking all these corny skull carvings, seems trench coat mafia-ish to me. I know his f&f is tops but I do think $3000 is getting a bit ridiculious.

btw, I love Matt Hotch's bikes! http://www.hotmatchcustomcycles.com/
Oh, Lord.....tell me that this Hotch guy didn't actually butcher a REAL Vincent!!!!!!

SHRIEK!!!!!!! If it didn't come out of the Vincent shop looking like that, then it was butchered. Even if the engine had already been snitched and thrown into a Norton frame, then the Norvin was still butchered. Pimp my Vincent?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!? If it was just an engine, then ok.

This one struck me like a lightening bolt when I was checking out the True North website today.
Fortunately, for my wallet, this Strider custom was already sold for $1,250. ;)
I am not sure if any comment is necessary, or even possible.

Nice fantasy knife, it makes sense it’s a STRIDER custom since most of his professed military accomplishments and being a combat vet are fantasy.

1250$ for this? Is Mr Strider going Hibben?
What's with the "no nonsense design" motto?
It's not practical, not tactical, not beautiful. So Strider makes an ugly, dirty knife with bulky G10-scales, puts some crap on the blade (barb wire, a fence or a dead animal) and sand blasts the dirt away to get this "camo".
He must be joking! "Look, I can make whatever I want, people will buy it for any price!"
Really, don't drink the kool-aid.
I feel sorry for the knifemakers who would like to comment on this but can't, because they would be called "cocky" if they did.

Maybe it's another hardcore bottleopener for third world bars, like the one made by Dark-Ops.

I'd like you to answer this question as honestly as you can: Do you really think that Strider could sell this thing for such a price, if he hadn't lied about his history? Seriously!

RL,

1. I gave you a chance to change the wording on your post. You chose, but not, to tell me to pack sand. I'm ill disposed to be kind to you right now.

2. Checked your hyper-link post, and realized......you really did buy one of these. Don't know what to say about that, but you are legitimately butt-hurt. What was this knife designed to do?

3. Did the lack of commentary or response threads not indicate to you that this was not the "high fiving, yeah bro" crowd? What do you want? You are not among those, here (in general) that share your passion for tactical knives of this ilk. Accept it, move on. I speak for myself, but you can see from the other like minded posts here, and the lack of comments in your original post(which got a fair amount of hits) that this is the case.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I am glad someone asked the question. Seriously - could you please explain what do you use the Warren Thomas folding axe for?

David

I found time to read the thread last night, and it turns out only one person really misbehaved. He got an infraction, and if he keeps it up he'll walk the plank.

That knife is remarkable.

It kinda looks like it was a knife thats based on that one knife in the movie EDGE.

Yes, the grind does look like it would be a lot of work to do.
I keep asking myself, "Whats it for?"

What is the design aimed at?
What use would such a knife be good at?

I got to say that the design on the blade is nothing special,Looks like it was blasted through a piece of steel mesh.Nothing more.

Ahhhh, it's not that bad. I am a bit of a snob myself and there are occasions where i see a highly embellished knife like this where I question something the choices that an incredibly skilled maker has made. I guess my normal response would be something like "Well, now I know what it would have looked like if Rembrandt had done a velvet Elvis painting" But it would still have been a Rembrandt and the BEST damn Elvis you had ever seen......lol. I wonder if that knife was a customer commision? Just so you know where I am coming from, I feel the same way about choppers. Incredible skill and craftsmanship, but HUH? That said, I like the design otherwise, particularly the blade shape.

O its a great knife no doubt about it. I just think skulls are cheesy :D

And for $3,000 i would rather buy a good used car. I love knives, but i dont think ill ever spend more than $300 on one; even to do that i had better be in a good place in my life and have the extra money on hand. It happens once in a while, but not very often.

Cougar, every time I see that picture I get the urge to take that beak to a nice 2000 grit mirror polish... Is it just me? :D

Yes, it's just you.

Of course one way of looking at that is, if you open a beauty parlor for snapping turtles you'll have no competition at all....

off topic, I think Lee Williams makes great knives at HIS makers price.

Now, back to the cake server and your regular programming..

I personally like Lee's work and own several of his knives. I don't particularly care for forged knives and don't understand the price or the hype. But I wouldn't take a picture of one and post some silly remarks about it. Larry

Man oh man, you can get alot of knife for $1250 in the forged arena.
A true custom one even, which is what this forum is all about.

I checked out several blades in that price range at the Blade Show. Like I said I just don't get it. Maybe someday I will. But I do think Lee makes a very nice knife. BTW I do own two forged knives. Larry
