Bah! What does sending that knife to Rinaldi get you? A big fat nothing, that's what. Send it to Talmadge, and I'll be only too glad to ship a fine single malt your way.

Joe

PS And, I may send BEN FRANKLIN along to help you make up your mind

:) :)

Joe, bribes will get you NOWHERE with Snarc(He likes Bushmills, and peasant Wodka's:-)!! Now if you send the single malt this way, I will forget all that you just posted and the extra T in TTKK will stay there.. :D ;) :p

You are right about the Shabaria. Mine seems to open naturally to the Pikal position. I love my Shabaria -- it is an awesome knife! :D :D :D :D :D :D

Well I got the working prototype in today.

I haven't really got to play with it that much, but my initial impressions are that it's...perfect. I think everyone will be pleased with the result. I know that it'll replace the old Kershaw Talon as my EDC pikal folder.Sal I got to give you credit. You really hit this one out of the park, much like Trace did with the Disciple and the Clinch-Pick. Not many companies can get a knife this right, based on end-user input.

Outstanding sir! :)

I'd say thats one hell of an endorsement!

I'm getting all giddy and happy.

Just got the prototype from Snarc today... Here is a picture..

Got ya to look!! :D

Initial impressions are VERY GOOD, I think we got it right.. I will be running it for a few days and sending it back to Sal.. I'll post more in a few days after I get to use and carry it for a bit..

On a related matter; will there be a new DVD from SouthNarc featuring the Spyderco Pakal folder?

BTW, I got SouthNarc's Reverse Edge Methods DVD a couple days ago and it's awesome. Total down and dirty real world stuff. I'd love to see one done featuring the new Spyderco Pakal folder that included drawing techniques, as well as defense against weapon wielding opponents. :)

You've got a real mean streak TR. I scrolled down so fast my page jumped back up to the top. Had me thinking we'd get to see the new blade and instead we get teased.

Just plain mean. :grumpy:

Sorry about that ERINT, I'm just bad that way I guess ;) Hope I didnt make ya spill yer coffee or anything Sal.. :)

I've had a few days to mess with the proto, and I am REALLY digging it. The more I carry it, the more it reveals itself as a great tool.
The overall package is awesome as far as ergo's, point position, and blade profile. It feels good in your hand, and will do what it needs to do. The size is just right too. I think this tool will find a home in the pockets of Cops, EMT's, and Pakal practitioners alike.. It even feels fine in a conventional grip to me. :D Its no show pony by any means but it will be a GREAT tool for MANY applications. Cant wait to see them in production!

Any updates..?

Yes. Trace and 'narc have been through 4 bottles of Irish whiskey since our last update, and we still haven't seen anything :)

Joe

PS Ha ha! Just kidding Trace! Let's keep that initial "T" in the TTKK, shall we? :)

This subject came up over the weekend at a class taught by SouthNarc. The project is still moving forward. I did not ask about a possible release date.

In six months I'll be living in Maine, where the violent crime rate is about one RCH above zero. But I think I oughta have a state-of-the-art defensive shank just in case of mass ergotism or some other cataclysmic turn of events.

How ironic to move out of crime-ridden L.A. to a place of peace and quiet just as my dream folder is being developed.

Any official name yet? well here's my suggestion: the Spyderco Recoil. I think it has so many undertones to it that it works well :)

ps: not sure if any other knife is called that, so please forgive my ignorance
