Although I didn't read the whole thread, it seems to me that he was sincere in having family problems - which sometimes, take many weeks to resolve.

Anyone can make the "claim" of having "family problems." I don't know how many times I've seen that used, here, as a means of getting off the hook.

I prefer to look at the timeline of events. That speaks volumes of sincerity.
