A Thought On Posts In The Traditional Forum...

My name is Graham,

Or Florence ( as in Nightingale) - according to my Dad
Or Gladys ( as in Nurse Gladys Emmanuel - one for the UK TV viewers there) - also according to my Dad
I think Dad finds having a nurse in the family funny - God bless his cotton socks
Or Nursie - according to work colleagues and mates

I still sign my posts with:
"Take Care
Graham"
signed manually every time, 'cos I cant work these strange computer gizmos very well

Mine's still in my sig, right?
I'll check...

I have always put my full name in my sig line on most forums for that very reason, when you meet someone in person you introduce yourself so I saw no reason not to give it online.

But I stopped signing every post with my first name, and using "G." when I was still at odds with my name... just not fond of that name. I accept it more now than i did then, it is My name... but am still not 100% on it, and "G." has become habit.

Gary. :)

My name is Tobias. I don't like it very much, but I do mention it when I introduce myself or actually post something that is aimed at a person in particular, or when I E-mail, or send messages through the forum etc.
I am really uncomfortable with calling people by their nicknames. It's just wrong :)

You'd never get people to do this over in the gun forums, even the decent ones. Too many tin foil hats over there...even the Winchester guys are a little funny about that sort of thing. You know, putting your name where the Bilderberg and their black helicopters could compile them and then swoop in and round up everybody's gear.

"You can have my Sodbuster when you pry it from my cold dead hands"!

"When puukkos are outlawed, only outlaws will have puukkos"!

That sort of thing. :D

QB

PS. Just teasing my other peers a bit. Been a firearms enthusiast myself since about 1970 and an NRA member nearly as long.

Anyone working as an LEO for any period of time has his share of tin foil hat and black helicopter stories. Some of 'em can be pretty hilarious if a bit sad as well.

Thanks for all the good replies (so far). I think we'll "stick" this thread for the time being as it makes a good reference, especially in the case of those who haven't or can't change their sig lines for one reason or another. At least you can look 'em up here if need be.

I'm Kenny to my family and good friends, but alot of folks I've met since I was grown call me Ken. Prefer Kenny, but Ken is also fine.

When I joined here I just put Ken and my age at that time(44) as my BF name.
I had never posted on a forum before and though I would only read stuff here. I didn't think I would ever acually make a post or I may have put more thought into it.

Hi Blues -

I have no problem with people knowing my real name -

I have used mqqn as a synonym for my last name in every forum I have ever joined, so it is very easy to sketch out my interests and activities on the internet.

My name is Andy, but I would just as soon be referred to on the internet at mqqn, that way all the people I have interracted with in the past on other forums will know who is involved in the discussion(s) that they may run across.

I have found cross-forum friends this way many times.

Oh, and mqqn? That is my last name with q's instead of o's, as my last name is Moon. It is supposed to be a reference to the old Moon Racing logos from drag racing in the past.

best regards -

mqqn aka Andy

ps. - I don't currently have a signature here due to my status - but I plan on upgrading soon.

My wife is a tin foil hat queen and hates it when I do anything that shows who I am, but my name Steven and I am a Knifeaholic.

It would be nice for us to address one another by name as opposed to just a forum "handle".

Just my opinion and in no way am I suggesting that you must do so if it makes you uncomfortable for folks to know your name.

Thanks for taking the time to give it consideration.

Can do, bud. :) Name's Casey, classic Scots-Irish, and I look as Scot as the name implies.

My name is John.

Back home in the hills they call me Johnny Doug, since my middle name is Douglas and rednecks generally need two names. :)

So do some of us litvaks -- me and my father and his father had double names in Hebrew which is what Esav and Benyamin are.

In English, I only use Ed. :)

Elliott, the things you think of for thread ideas are great! Shoots look at the hits on this one already:D It surely is an "now why didn't I think of that" kind of moment. Much aloha to all of you addicts that have finally come out of the closet, (your rock bound friend) Mike

A litvak on a blade forum
Gevalt!!

(The immigrant Jews joke about one another depending on the area in Europe they come from.
A Litvak comes from Lituania, and they developed a highly interlectual way of analysis in the Talmudic studies)
Gevalt is a Yiddish exclamation word with no translatable meaning, it is not a cuss
