A Thought On Posts In The Traditional Forum...

Hello all.

When I first joined up here at BF, I'd already been observing as a 'guest' for a while. I was amazed at the wealth of knife knowledge here. I learned things, in minutes, what I'd previously not figured out in years.

My BF username reflected my mindset when I signed up. I had become fixated on figuring out how to improve upon all the knives I'd already spent a ton of cash on. I sort of felt ashamed of the fact that I'd bought so many, but still wasn't able to 'properly' sharpen them.

I sometimes wonder if my username sounds a bit pretentious when viewed by other members here. With that in mind, I just want to say 'Thank You!' to everyone who's contributed their expertise in this forum. I've learned SO MUCH since signing up.

My name is David (this is what my mother calls me; my dad, and most of my close friends, call me Dave).

Best regards to all.

I generally sign with my initials - EJ. My first name is Ed and I don't have a problem signing with that, but it might take me a while to get out of the habit of signing with EJ. If I can get my signature set up that will help or at least keep me from forgetting. I have used "EJ" in all forums to which I belong for years.

Just so you'll know my user name - "TLARbb" stands for "That Looks About Right blackbelt". I chose that when the company I was working for at the time got all enamored with the Six Sigma Black Belt thing.

The good thing about getting to the party late, is that I got to read through the entire thread. I'm Jay, and it's a pleasure to get to know the names behind the user ID's.

BTW, my user ID on here is the official critter from my home state, New York.

I just noticed this thread, i haven't been around much lately.
There are a lot of Eds on this forum, maybe it's a folksy name.
Still, i got a good claim to it, as I'm probably older than all these other Eds.

Ceptin of couse Esav. I was born after mankind discovered fire.
:D

:rolleyes:Welcome back. Hope all is well with you and yours.

I heard that Esav helped perfect the bow-drill method of fire-making. Of course, that's just rumor. It might have been the flint and steel.:)

Actually, the only invention I've been able to historically attribute to Ed is the plank!

David,
I know when you started, you recieved some stripes (40-1) since 40 could kill a man, in our beloved sub forums, and always felt you were beaten harder than you deserved to be. You took it like a pirate and continued to contribute, learn, share and be an assett to the community. Well done. There is no pretentiousness to your username, at least I do not percieve it to be so. I am obsessed as well, just ask my wife. ;)

Too many Eds and too many of them (you) is wise guys! :)
The plank log was already set up when I got here. I raise the sharks, though.

I'll try to remember to add my name to future posts in this subforum, but have you looked outside? there are a lot of scary dudes (and dudettes) in some of the dark crannies of BFC. :D

James, Ed's trained sharks will make short work of that lot. ;)

Thanks Chris.

You've consistently been a positive, upbeat & helpful voice here. After a while, it becomes easier to recognize those who consistently make an effort to stay 'above the fray' when discussions sometimes turn in a negative way. You've set a fine example in that regard.

I hang around here to find something new to learn (which happens every day), and to hopefully lift my mood a bit when I'm otherwise distracted by the tougher things in life. I haven't been let down yet.

Thanks again.

Dave

This is one reason I like Traditional knives section most. Its just not section like others. Its like entering into your own home with your family :) Though I consider myself as lazy and illegiment "black sheep" step son of this forums family. I am enough lazy not to sign every post with my name so it was easier put it in Signature.

By good fortune, I stumbled on to bladeforums not too long ago, and immediately felt at home.

The Traditional folks are like great neighbors. It's a pleasure to met you all.

The traditional forum is my favorite place to hang out. I feel comfortable here. I accidentally stumbled into the pirate cove once and it was too dark for my taste.

My username is the shift I actually work(for almost 30 years now)-by choice. My name is Paul, and I'm glad to be a part of this group.

Welcome Paul! Glad you could join us. Always good to have another traditional knife fan here.

Chris
