Photos A Walk in Nature

52°F today. Quite cool after the last few days. This little one wasn't inclined to move. I tried to respect his respite so did not add a knife to the photo. Pretty little coil! 👍

Nice little fella and a cool knife

We have been quite warm here for the past couple days. Tomorrow is going to be another glorious day with a high of 24 C or 75 F ( then is going down into single digits after Monday for a few days )

It's perfect weather for hitting the forest trails:thumbsup: ... I only wish the ticks were not so much of an issue lately. It's on the news all the time... warnings about new diseases, increasing numbers etc.
We may finally just go and buy the tick repellent clothing they sell at the Mark's warehouse in town.

I plan to take the tarp off Serena tomorrow and hopefully start doing some minor repairs before the start of the season. :)

I am afraid I once disrupted a little fella's supper consisting of a slug and a salad.
Quality protein and lots of vegetables ... like my diet 😃

Staying in a small village near Oxford, England. Took a walk today, across the Thames River and up the Wittenham Clumps.

Enjoy the trip Dan !
So cool you got to meet a fellow Porch member Johnnythefox Johnnythefox and were provided with a SAK to carry on the trip

Here is my little Cadet.
No tulips 🌷 yet here in Eastern Ontario but anytime now they should start blooming now that the white stuff ❄️ is all gone :)

Sorry no knife in the picture, but my daughter is visiting British Columbia and sent me some beautiful pictures of a temperate rainforest today, and among them was this, with a question about what it was:

She has no knowledge of the ongoing skunk cabbage theme we have here in this thread 🤣. Clearly I raised a child with refined tastes…

Great pic Tom 😊 👍

That’s it guys !
My soul will not rest now until I find a skunk cabbage 🥬 to take a picture with my knife 😎 ( hopefully I can recognized it when I see it 😀)

Daughters do take great pics 😊
Yesterday my daughter in Alberta texted me a couple photos from her afternoon walk.

Went for a 35 mile bike ride this morning - not really out in nature too much, but part of it was along the C&O canal, and this was the view over the side of Chain Bridge in DC:

I explored some new routes which seemed to consist mostly of steep hills and headwinds…

It was just crowded enough everywhere I went that I didn’t really feel like stopping for a knife photo-op, but I had my Fieldmaster in the tool bag in case of such dire needs as emergency bike repairs or a roadside produce stand:

I managed to make it home about 20 minutes before the rain started, and we have been having waves of torrential downpours all afternoon.

Nap time!

Your wet knees and extra laundry chores are inconveniences I am more than willing to endure for such quality content 🤣.

If we keep egging each other on like this, one of us is going to wind up getting stuck in the mud or something…

I was laughing as I was walking around. Not always certain if the next hummock was as solid as I hoped. :)

I did a lot of bushwhacking when I was working, and permanone worked great for keeping the ticks away. Nasty stuff, but not as nasty as ticks

No outdoor activities today, but plenty of preparation.

After bringing my parents breakfast, I went to the sporting goods store to renew my fishing license:

After that I went home and began painting my boat:

When I bought the paint a couple of weeks ago, the somewhat elderly Jamaican(?) lady at the hardware store paint counter was EXTREMELY disapproving of my color choice. She made me confirm that that was INDEED the color I wanted, and my explaining that it was for a boat didn’t take the edge off her disdain at all. When she opened the can after mixing, to test the color, she shook her head and made tut-tutting noises, and handed it over with an “enjoy your green boat, dear” or words to that effect.
