About the hate for Survive! Knives.

One thing that amazes me about every forum I have ever belonged to is there is always someone who not only thinks they know more than everyone else, but they have an insatiable need to prove it. The irony is that 9 times out of 10 they end up proving the exact opposite; and the other 1 time, NOBODY CARES.

I don't know of any other production knife makers that have a backlog like Survive. If you know of any, feel free to list them. They are also one of the very few that have a sticky on the Feedback forum.

For visual people...

It's good to recognize your shortcomings.

You would think that ethics/morals should be enough incentive.

Moral judgements are worth their weight in hot air. They don't get anything done, and they certainly don't keep the lights on. All that matters is what IS. I'm sure there are those waiting for knives that once they receive them will immediately get rid of them and never want anything to do with SK! ever again. And they're completely justified in that point of view. And there will be some like the Op that will be tickled to death to get their knife and feel it was worth the wait. I hope that everyone that ordered a knife gets one. But the "never ending hate circle jerk" as it was called... is worth about a pound of nothin. Do any of you really think anyone cares if you think they're honorable, or ethical, or moral? Seriously... do you really think they care? Especially if you have no skin in the game. You're just ranting bystanders.

As opposed to the vast wealth of whatever it is you’re spreading here.

For the record, I have no skin in this game. I was happy to sit quietly on the sidelines observing other people’s experiences, silently forming my own opinions. And I would have happily gone on not doing business with this company without a word. But I have a hard time keeping my mouth shut when I see rampant ignorance and stupidity parading themselves around as the voice of reason.

Anyone that doesn't 100% agree with your point of view is automatically dishonest, lacks integrity, has no honor... blah blah blah.

Or possibly just because you lack moral compass.

Quoted for posterity, that way whenever someone thinks of buying from you and searches you out, they'll see this and understand that you're a scumbag who's not to be trusted or dealt with, because you, know "honor" is just hot air in your estimation. Enjoy! :D

There is a small but loud group of people here that absolutely hate this company. Even if they clean up their backlog and get every customer that paid, their knife… this small but loud group will continue to rant and moan about SK!. It’s like a hobby for them. They just like having a crusade I guess. They take great pride in the fact that they have a large never ending hate thread for the company. They feel very accomplished that it shows up in google searches (sorta like being the famous guy in a small town).
This seems accurate. I can understand people who were duped by Survive's shipping deadlines, promises, and 6+ years of the boy who cried wolf. I'd be livid too.
Others who don't have a dog in the fight seem even more righteously upset. Vicariously angry maybe? Outrage porn.

The admittingly well-founded criticism about Survive! is just on repeat at this point. The problem for these people is that more and more it actually seems like Survive has sorted their shit out and moving forward. The prospect of that seems even more upsetting for some.

More and more how?

The chart that the company publishes is moving along fairly slowly. It's 2022 and they still have orders (quoted at a few months) from 2015 and every year since. Not what I would call sorted.

Once they catch up on 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 then you might have a point. Assuming that happens this year or perhaps next

There will always be some that write them off completely because of the issues and excuses that are nearly a decade old but I think you'd be surprised at how many folks would give them another go if they actually turned it around and got caught up. But we will never know if they never do that and if history is any indicator, they will keep on with their pre orders, false lead times, excuses, and years long back log of orders.

Agreed. The LAST thing these people want is for SK! to clean up the mess, get back to even, and then move forward. Then their crusade will be over. I’m sure they’ll try and then take credit for it… “it was our thread that forced them to straighten up” but everyone else will know better and that will do them little good when they have to find something else to dedicate all their big madness at. And they will. The internet has no shortage of people just looking for something to enrage or offend them so they can spend years ranting about it.

I have no idea what’s going on at SK! currently. I’m a bigger fan of their older models and so I’ve not really kept up with their current goings on. But I do hope they get everyone a knife that’s paid for one… and from there I actually hope they thrive moving forward just to spite all the haters that never had any skin in the game anyway.

They just posted their August update. They did not produce a single knife order from 2015, 2017 or 2018 in 3 months. What is your definition of "sorted their shit out and moving forward"?

You seem just as invested in these threads as the haters that you're criticizing.

But I do hope they get everyone a knife that’s paid for one… and from there I actually hope they thrive moving forward just to spite all the haters that never had any skin in the game anyway.
What a weird take. You hope that Survive honors their commitments so that they can spite their haters? Rather than because it's the right thing to do? Because that's the recurring theme of some of your comments.

Reading comprehension is a real issue on this forum. I said I hope everyone gets their knife… AND FROM THERE!!!!!! They thrive in spite of the haters.

Edit: Actually I’m sure you read it just fine. You guys just LOVE to try and twist people’s words so you can generate more recreational outrage,

Let's check back in a few months and see how they fulfill their promises.

One of the videos on Youtube from July said that they were almost complete with their backlog and ALL of it would be completed in a few weeks. Which did not turn out to be true. This was after they said the same thing last December.

Now if I chose to take your tactics… I’d say “Well it seems like you’re rooting for people to not get the knives they paid for and therefore are a terrible person.” But see… I’m not trying to twist your words. So I wouldn’t say that.
