Accused of selling a fake Sebbie...

This is definitely worth a look but as it's easy to have multiple Ebay accounts I would be talking to PayPal about the Ebay account/s linked to your buyers PayPal account to see if there is a pattern of fake claims. I have found PayPal to be very helpful and proactive with fraud related cases.

What was the outcome?

You have your dignity--that's worth a lot more than a sebenza, and certainly not something the buyer has.
Has to be my favorite comment here so far. Thanks dkblade. As for the whole cloth thing, wow.. Haha this did sorta get a bit outta control. But still, I appreciate everyone's input. I can really agree with most everyone at some degree. Where I am at the moment is that he insists that its a fake and is "going to prove to eBay it's a fake". Now who's to say he won't use a fake to try and prove that, idk and neither do I think I care anymore.. Dkblades' words kinda hit home : ) haha. Plus I'm having a situation with a seller on eBay (bigeasy1950) but this time I'm the buyer. I'm not gonna bother getting into that story cuz I know it'll just hurt my credibility haha. But I'm just gonna wait a bit. If the kid wants his money back, and I get a fake, if anything at all, then so be it.. Just gotta learn from my mistakes and what I'm getting from this is to be extra careful from here on out, and I'm never dealing with eBay again..

I haven't gotten that far. Stay tuned for tomorrow boys and girls.. Except you cali4me, you're the culprit ; )

Unfortunately this is a situation that you will lose no matter what. No matter what the buyers intentions, eBay will screw you too just because you're the seller.

I recently had a similar situation where I sold a specialized packaging machine. The product is drop shipped straight from the manufacturer for this product. Two days before the buyer received the package, my sales associate received a weird email saying something about receiving rolls of something he didn't order. Then later another email saying never mind. Our product was a machine, not rolls of anything, so sales didn't think anything about it.

But sure enough, a week later we received a claim stating he didn't received what was ordered. I provided all information to eBay and PayPal with full shipping info from our vendor ( a large manufacturer that's been around for decades as have we). The decision went to the buyer and funds would be returned after item return. And a week later we received a box (real one from factory) with two small end rolls of construction roof flashing tape and the actual custom made closed cell foam end caps that the machine was packaged with. Total scam.

In an attempt to get the case reopened, we are told that we needed to provide a police report and proof that the machine was actually in the box when the buyer received it. Total no-win situation. The product was a shrink wrap machine that will most likely be used to repackage and fence other stolen items.

I wish the OP the best of luck, but don't hold your breath for a positive result. Crooks know the system (eBay et. al.), are in their favor for their desired line of work.

I don't like to call myself or anyone an expert, but I do indeed know what I'm looking at with CRKs.

It seems to be pretty clear that the OP didn't sell a fake CRK. If this is a scam he's been bumped out of a Sebenza in one way or another. if it's not a scam and the buyer just doesn't know what he's taking about it would be reasonable to expect that he will receive back the same knife he posted. There is just a missunderstanding and not a scam. Unfortunately it looks to me like the system is being played in the classic way we have seen numerous times before.

I'm not sure what your point was about the fake knives is. Telling people there are "nearly indistinguishable" knives out there is making them worry about something you seem to have just made up, there is no "unfortunate truth" there. The link you posted contains CRK saying nothing about seeing fake knives that would actually pass for genuine, they said they saw a picture in which a Ti-lock looked like a genuine CRK. They even cover a number of obvious flaws on the fake knives the have seen.

You are right though in that ebay really doesn't care as long as they are making some cash. Every single person here understands that though and has done for the longest time, it's not just a few experienced posters. :)

I am no expert on CRK and their authenticity but my point remains: OP will likely receive a fake if this is a scam and will (obviously) receive a fake (on the off chance) buyer is telling the truth. You are mistaking a an unfortunate truth for 'scare mongering'.

OP did nothing wrong and it is not fair. Ebay does not care, that is the harsh reality only a few (experienced) posters seem to understand.

cali4me, it REALLY looks like you are the buyer. You joined this forum today, you have been watching this thread all day (notice that it shows who is looking at the thread on the bottom), your posts are very suspicious and have all been made in this single thread. If you are really a 'lurker' why has ALL of your time been spent in this thread? So, if you are a crook, keep playing this game. If you are not a crook and you are simply worried that you got a fake knife, let us help. The fact that you are spending so much time here tells me that you are probably not a crook and you originally thought that you got a fake knife. While filing a claim is not what I would have chose to do first, I guess I can understand your reaction with such an expensive purchase. As Haze said, this could just be a misunderstanding.

That being said, if you are having buyers remorse, man up, return the knife and let bygones be bygones. If you genuinely want Small Sebenza, I see three options for you.

- send it to CRK to authenticate.

- return it and buy from an authorized dealer.

- let the members here determine the authenticity.

The members here can spot a fake from a mile away. With the right pictures, even the best of fakes. Right now, it seems the consensus here is that it is a 100% authentic knife. Without question.

If you are still uneasy with it, take the knife apart and post some pictures here. There are many, many ways to prove it is real by looking at the internals and externals.

What makes more sense:

I am a lurker, new to this community who knows a bit about this issue in specific. I saw posts here giving incorrect advice based on high minded ideals, not grounded in experience or even reality. I decided to make an account to offer my two cents. Of coarse I fallowed this topic, it was interesting enough to entice me to make an account--then I was accused of being the buyer, fun diversion from a dull Sunday afternoon.

Or

I am the buyer, I think I might have a fake or this is a scam, I HAPPEN to be on BF HOURS AFTER OP even though I don't have an account, I launch this bizarre day long campaign... to what end. As I said in my first post: buyer wins if they just sit tight and wait for ebay, this has been confirmed by several senior community members. Why would I bother?

It cant be both. If the first is true then I probably know what I am talking about and just want to help get the best results from a lose-lose situation, and you are dumb.

You can tell eBay the handles and blade have markings abd codes to verify its legitimacy. Why not get those pictures. Op, do u recall the stamps on the interior of handle?

I was speaking out if turn by combining professional experience with the what I thought CRK was stating. I don't know much about CRK or how hard they are to fake (I did not know 'ti lock' is a knife, i thought it was a 'feature'.) Consider me corrected and humbled by your knowledge.

The point: if the buyer is scamming OP will likely get back a fake sebenza, if buyer is telling the truth then OP will get back a fake sebenza. Either way the OP is screwed.

It wasn't my knowledge, it was all right there if you had just bothered to read the link you posted. :)

If the buyer is scamming the OP he will most definitey be getting a fake Sebenza back, there is no "likely" about it. :D If the buyer is telling "the truth" then things become a little more complicated than the return of said fake knife....Anyway, this is taking things off on a tangent that we don't need to be on. Here's hoping for the best news OP can hope for.

I dont think you "the OP" should lie down and fold with this. According to pics it is a "Real Sebenza" - if thats what was sent. Get as much documentation from your original purchase as possible and get something from your seller written up to give to EBay. Do everthing you can to support your side of the story. Dont throw in the towel immediately. Go through Ebay's process - preferrably speaking with someone at Ebay - if possible.

Comparing micro-fiber towels is a little absurd:)

Did you state on the listing that it was possible to sent the knife back. If not you do not have to do anything. He has to prove that was a fake

[snip...]

I haven't used ebay at all after they banned knife (and related item) sales in the UK. I have a number of issues with how ebay do things and just won't use them. Walking away from ebay is the very best way to avoid problems on ebay. ;)

I agree with Haze -

I recently sold a Kershaw Ruby LE on Ebay / paypal.

The buyer turned out to be a serial "problem buyer" at best, and an outright thief at worst.

I waited to ship the knife until Paypal said I could ship the knife and get full seller's protection. Glad I did, as the "buyer" started having problems getting the package delivered, and then finally filed a claim with paypal over the $500 saying he did not get the knife (after he had already emailed me saying he had it in hand, and we had a signature confirmation from his local PO where he walked in under surveillance cameras and picked it up...) - Lucky for me that Paypal released the hold on my account but the jerk got the knife and presumably Paypal paid for it for him.

I won't be selling knives on ebay anymore.

I hope this gets worked out in your favor - paypal took care of me as a seller and I was relieved.

best

It really is a little bit suspicious especially since all your posts have been in this thread and over a span of almost 12 hours along with no other info on your profile. But whether you are or not is for a higher power than I to know. However your attitude of cut losses and "you'd be lucky to get bent over and dry f***** and given 50$ as a consolation" that will get you nowhere here. That kind of attitude is why people feel they can rip people off. Also, calling other members dumb doesn't help you case. Feel free to contribute in better ways, legal or otherwise advice excluded.

The OP should absolutely not stand for this. I may be no expert but that sebenza shares many qualities that mine did from a local authorized retailer. This is something that should be dealt with properly, Insist that the buyer follow through on his part, fight the scoundrel!!
secondly, yeah comparing mircofiber cloths is a lot absurd.

Good luck.

indeed. much luck is needed

Alright everyone I gotta make something really clear because I'm just gonna go out and say that I really highly doubt cali4me is the buyer. Don't get me wrong, you have no idea how much respect I have and highly appreciate the fact that you guys have my back.. Suuuuper blown away by that and I'm really greatful to have a community of awesome people that see the truth in the situation. But as I was saying, I'm pretty sure cali4me isn't the "culprit", I was just making a joke about it. The buyers responses seem that of some 13 year old which leads me to believe that he may just really think he has a fake. Cali4me's conversation don't come close to this kids speech.Let's all just get along you guys ; ) I'm just gonna go ahead and give you an example by quoting his initial message.
"This is an counterfeit. I don t want to waste more of my time: provide an immediate and complete refund we will be done (and I will not post negative feedback, file a mail fraud report, etc.) If this escalates to ebay I will get my money back anyway--think it over."

Like I mentioned earlier, I can't see what I sent him but I have a record of his messages. So I replied basically telling him how shocked I was and that I bought it from a reputable dealer, then proceeding to ask him why it was he thought it was a counterfeit, and he says, "It is a pretty good counterfeit but we both know you are trying to rip me off so please stop wasting my time. I am going to take this to ebay and the authorities if needed--last chance."

I have not read the en tire thread, but if it is still a question if it is a real Sebbie or not, it is real.

What makes more sense........

Look, I fully understand that the chance you are not the buyer exists. I also understand that the OP could have taken pictures of a real Sebenza and sent a fake. However, I don't believe that is the case because it would be very easy to compare what was sent with the photographs and submit that to eBay.

The intent of my post was not to attack you. The fact is, it does seem like you could be the buyer and if that is the case, I was trying to offer you an out. If you truly are not the buyer, I apologize. This will be my last post regarding 'our little issue', since this thread is starting to get derailed. And by the way thank you for the compliment I really work hard at my dumb.
