Ahem. Look up you oinking bastards.

I agree it's fair and you provide a great forum around here. I like the separate forum whether we asked for it or not, I am mainly a Busse customer. I don't have a problem with the 72 hour rule per se. Anything less than 24 - 48 hours is ridiculous anyways in my opinion. My problems aren't with the moderators so much... it's with the babies who were crying about how "hard" it was on them in the Exchange.

I know we as a community like to engage in a little chatter in a sale thread because everyone can learn something and have a good time. I think the only thing that left a bad taste in my mouth for a while was the first thread I saw get locked due to chatter was Randucci's Silent Knight for sale thread. It's the probably most beautiful knife I have ever seen and it was a great picture of a rare knife. Not my kind of thing but it was obvious EVERYONE wanted to write something about it and it got locked. It was an extraordinary knife and I thought it deserved the fuss it drew. That's all... it was squacking babies that put an end fun in the exchange.

It just seems to me if we are not at risk of burying the FS threads of "other maker" knives it would be nice to be able to chat and learn from and be entertained by our own for sale threads instead of PM's and all that.

I am rolling with it regardless...this is the best place to talk knives.

I think it's a good idea, personally.

And the bump rule isn't a big deal. Just lower (or raise!) your price by $5 each time and you get as many bumps in a day as you like.

My biggest beef is the *trade* forum. That place is a haystack.

As for the guys saying "just use the search function"...I would, if it didn't blow up half the time! (And yes, I read the search tips thread)

Spark, I for one was trying to give some constructive perspective--namely that this has been rehashed repeatedly in the past and that, to my recollection, the larger majority of Busse voices were against a separate forum. That claim is born out in the above linked poll. That was precisely why my sense of the new forum was that it is more a result of complaints than of requests. You even mention, in your last post, "I don't have to listen to complaints from non-busse sellers. Not hearing complaints makes me happy."

Fair enough. I don't have a problem trying out the new system and lessening the complaint load on you. Like I said in a prior post.....your board, your rules.

It puzzles me, however, that you ask for constructive dialogue and then post in another thread that asked a question about the new forum:

Because I said so. Good enough?

That seemed to shut down any dialogue pretty quickly.

I have to admit I was one that was not in favor of a separate Busse for sale forum. However, now that it is up I plan to use it and I think it will work out just fine.

I can honestly say I doubt I will visit the main for sale forum much except in my new role as a SUPER MODERATOR ;) Especially since the Busse for sale forum is so easily accessible from this forum.

:D:D

Spark if you don't like folks in here "whining like babies", then stop talking down to us. You made a major change to the infrastructure, and waited 2 hours to wiegh in on it. This is my first impression I'm getting of you, and it's not even close to favorable. It looks like you don't actually give a crap what any of us think. Noone here asked for this. In fact recent polls were taken and the overwhelming results were HELL NO. I've seen 4 "yeys" in here from folks who have never posted in this forum.

I paid my membership fees specifically to be able to buy and sell. This is not the forum I joined anymore. You changed the deal, dude. Don't call me a whiney bitch for thinking it sucks. I would not have joined this under the present structure. So can I have my money back please, and I promise I'll quit my bitching.

Guyon - The "chatter" rule's been hashed out enough already.

This is actually why I am beginning to favor the new forum--mainly that we can blame more things on the Bully than ever before.

Your knife doesn't sell? Blame Porkerson. PayPal fees too high? Blame Porkerson. Your house repossessed because you bought too many Busses on the sale forum? Yep, you guessed it...

I was really pretty ambivalent toward a separate forum but adamant that, if instituted, it be modded by own of our own.

That being the case, how the heck did we end up with Porkerson?!?!? ;)

(Congrats, Eric.)

Spark: I am with RF here (I think). At least partly.

I personally love having all the knives I like most in one area. It makes it much, much easier for me to browse through the many knives I can not afford. ;) And the few I can. :) I thank you for that. It is a solid for sure!

The only rough spot for me is the thought that we feel like we were pushed into our own forum by complainers. It appears that the majority of us were against a sub-forum via a few polls and threads that were up a while back and preferred to follow the "New Rules". So if the majority of us were against it some may feel that the complainers basically won out and segragated us.

Now this may be WAY off base but that is what I am picking up...

But back to you... This is your House and you have given us our own room. And I think it was well intended. So, again, thanks!

And most importantly I agree with The Bully so I will not get banned!

;)

Guyon - The "chatter" rule's been hashed out enough already.

Fair enough, although Dunner may have missed those discussions.

I agree that it's been discussed over and over. And as you can see above, I actually support the "no chatter" rule--especially after seeing it work to even out access to the top of page 1. See my post #23 in this thread.

See, this is exactly what I'm talking about. Nothing constructive. You want your membership fees back? No worries. I'll deactivate you right now. And by my count I see 12 people in this thread who like it, one person who's already retracted his complaints, and you exhibiting the same behavior I just warned against. Give me your order number and I'll credit you pro-rated immediately.

EDIT: looks like I can't refund you without having your CC number, which isn't stored in the system for automated orders. You are going to have to IM it to me and I'll deactivate you immediately after that.

.
what the.... now, I'm not Spark but I sure don't see how the way this is set up impacts you so much that you want your money back. or why you would not have joined under the present structure. And, until you explain why it does so, it appears that all you are in fact doing is bitching, moaning, and complaining. So what is up? how is it such a big deal?

On the other hand, I congratulate you if your life is so in order that something as minor as this is viewed as a major upset.

Here's what I hope is a constructive set of questions...

How do Busse folks, who see an unusual knife in the FS thread and want to discuss it, go about this business? The line they walk is between "no chatter" rule in the sale thread and the "no selling" / "no linking to sale threads" rule in the Busse forum. Sometimes, it may be the first of a kind that they've seen (the Silent Knight is a good example) and the only one they might get to see for a long, long while. There are some variants that just don't come up that often.

Would it be okay to simply link to the picture and ask for more information? Would they risk infractions from the Busse mods for referencing a sale thread? Or is silence the only choice? To start a generic thread and play the game of "This just occurred to me. I don't know about the current sale thread." would be pretty silly. Someone is bound to point out that this knife is currently for sale if it's an unusual model.

I've been in this position in the past, where I saw something unusual and wanted more info. I generally have taken such questions to PM to people I thought would know. However, not everyone has been around as long and/or knows the Busse network as well (and I'm still learning).

This is actually a very good point. Let's say some one is selling a super limited SFNO variant! And I quickly want to get some feedback on it before I nab it :D . What to do? What to do?

Come on now guys. The new forum will work out just fine if we want to make it work out fine. It really is up to us. The Busse/Swamp Rat / Scrapyard brands will sell themselves, no matter where they are located.

Let's give this a fair chance. If it doesn't work Spark will make it right.

I enjoy these forums too much for this to be a problem for me.

:D:D

Guyon: See the rules in the For Sale Forums. Asking for more information is A-OK. Saying "Oooooooooh nice knife, droooooooooool" or the like is not. If you want to discuss a knife after it's sale, feel free; just not in the for sale forum. The For Sale forums are for SELLING not CHATTING ;)

Eric: I don't know what you are talking about, that link looks perfectly fine to me. Swamp Rat has always been two words, and the Scrapyard was there as well. From the beginning.

I was making a joke on the bold type, no need for you to do anything. (my jokes are not always very good ;) )

I only made Swamp Rat bold because they are obviously the better brand. ;)
