Just found this thread. Jack variations are my favorite hands down. Here's a few of mine I have pics of.

Cutty73 - those vintage ebony handled jackknives are real beauties. Congratz! :)

(I somehow need to reprofile and old Böker jackknife I got some time ago from the bay, but this will need time)

Yes, I agree with Andi, the Ulster and A. Field are magnificent!!! Thanks for sharing, Cutty:thumbup:

Thanks, Mike and Will. I used a 1 x 30 belt sander, hand sanding and buffing on a wheel. Took a little over an hour.

I know it sounds dumb, but I am almost always too skittish to do a project like that on a knife I really like. :) Nice job.

It was for sure not my first effort, and besides, I don't care for spear blades. I bought this one expressly to turn into a clip, because it had the most blade beyond the nick of any of the Eurekas. A clip and a straight edge is what I like. (see avatar)

Another GEC #48 Jack with burnt stag, this one's already seen some pocket time though (just not in this pic :))

Queen #51 Dogleg Jack with winterbottom jigged delrin and group shot of my #51s

What is the handle material second from the top? I've been eyeballing one of those 51 jacks in BEM, but I'm liking the looks of the one right below it.

Size wise, is it comparable to the GEC 48?

That one is Cocobolo. I had a hard time finding that one, it was the only one I found actually still on a dealer's shelf in May of 2011. The GEC #48 is 3 7/8" closed while the Queen #51 is 3 1/2" closed. I took this pic a while ago, hope it helps.

Perfect. Thanks.
