All in on jacks

Nice, old EO jack, Steve! Leaf shaped spear for easy pinch opening, and nice "cobby" jigging. Very attractive in a sort of primitive way!
I like it enormously!

Thanks Vince! We gotta stop posting simultaneously!!:D

Most (not all) Teardrop knives have spear blades. Schrade Cutlery Co did a nice job of fitting a clip into this smaller, yet nicely proportioned Teardrop.

Here's a pretty beat Challenge Cutlery bare head. Sorry about the pic quality.

Rather than flood this thread with pictures of Harness Jacks that have mostly been posted before, I thought I'd pic the occasional one with some special features.
Iroquois brand, I think by Utica Cutlery.
It is almost cartoonish-looking, but is a well made, serious knife!!

Charlie, Thats a most unusual HJ! How about a photo with the blades closed? Thanks, Barry

Notice how the Hammerhead bolsters sink the tang.

 I am in love with this pattern! The scales, not so much. But the pattern is very interesting. That's something you don't see every day. Very cool!

I had an Iroquois teardrop jack in slick black at one time. It was heavily buffed. I didn't know they were made by Utica. That one is quite unique Charlie.

Cool knife Charlie !! Here's a "Real" Cripple Creek Jack.

Notice how there is no date stamped in the circle on the tang stamp. The first year of CC and a few of the 1982 patterns weren't dated. After that they had tang stamps like this until "96" when Cargill couldn't make knives any longer.

Charlie, That is the MOST unusual Harness Jack (and a salesmans sample to boot). I've never seen another, perfect for an ultra-advanced HJ collection. I love oddball patterns. Thanks for sharing, Barry

I'll see if I can find some more oddballs, Barry. I believe I have a couple more.
Rumor has it that the lower bolster marking on this well used Empire Gunstock Jack, "WeXL", was a result of a marketing dispute with a famous Sheffield maker who used "I*XL"!!
Gee. I wonder who that was??!!:D

WeXL....That certainly qualifies as an obscure logo. That's a new, old one for me. What other obscure stuff ya got? I love obscure!

3 blade jacks are not that frequently found. This utility jack, marked Dasco was made by Schrade.

"Spotted Horn" was a method used to emulate more expensive Tortoise shell. These are poor examples, and faded over time, but that is what they are. A standard pattern, made by two different people in Italy.

This one is very obscure. A Corsican Military survival knife. It has everything you need to be happy, right where you are!

These came from the Mirando Collection. Mirando (Felix?)was a founder of Imperial, and continued to work for Baer, after Baer bought Imperial out. I think the one marked "C.Mirando" was by his uncle.

I wonder if the "Maselli" marked one, or its ilk, influenced the Iroquois HJ above??!!

Gday fella's,
Would someone define the term "jack" for me please? What defines what a "jack " is??

Cheers Bruce
