And as far as Bark River goes... the fit and finish of Survive! is significantly better than any Bark River I've owned. No uneven grinds, no uneven handle scales, and no edges ground too thin.

I beg to differ.
In my experience it is quite the opposite Survive's fit and finish is not on the same level with Bark River.
I own several blades from both companies. My gso 4 has machine marks on spine, heat treat grime in jimps, scales are not flush with the handle, screws are not flush with the scales (do not get me wrong I like me gso 4 a lot but fit and finish is not on same level with BRKT yet). GSO 6 has improved on all of these drawbacks but still not as immaculate as BRKT. I have gso 10 on pre order I hope to see improvement in F&F but I still ordered me one of these: (same steel, thicker stock a bit longer, heat treated by same company btw and at comparable price and available now at DLT and KSF and excellent F&F)

Good God. Where is the bow down smiley???

Hey guys, anybody know off hand the weight of a gso 10 plus sheath off the top of thei head? Doesn't say on Survive's site. Thanks all

I'll take faint machine marks on the spine over uneven blade grinds, unevenly shaped handle scales, thin grinds leading to easily rolled edges, and just plain crooked blades, thanks. I've owned about 20 Bark River knives, and more than half had at least one of the issues I mentioned. I used to fool myself into accepting those things as acceptable quirks and kept drinking the kool aid, but a few really bad examples ruined the relationship.

Do some searching and you'll find lots of people with similar complaints. But this isn't a Bark River thread, so we can argue that somewhere else.

I'm pretty sure the machine marks and other little "imperfections" are left there on purpose to remind you that your S!K should be a user!

Anyway I'm loving my 4.1 and 7/7. I can't wait to finally get a 5.1.

This just in from Guy Seiferd: 'Package Shipped to You.'

I don't know if it is the 4.1, the 10, or both. I will follow up once received next week.

I have a question regarding the BRKT Bravo 1.5. I am looking for a stainless option in the mid sized knife. How does the S35VN hold up compared to the M390? The only knife that I have in this steel is a Socom Elite folder that I have not thumped on. I'm not sure that I have it in me to wait for a GSO 5.1 in 20 CV.

This was taken from some FB comments in regards to asking if Guy was going to make a GSO in S35VN, "No, not really. Niagara is selling it in sheets now but this CPM-20CV exists because of me constantly nagging them and Crucible to make it for me. It is a domestically produced replacement for the Austrian grade, Bohler M-390, that I had been using. I really like the high corrosion resistance and edge retention of CPM-20CV over the CPM-S35VN." I hope that helps!

Glad to hear that. I hope it's both, but at least it is progress.

It's most likely your GSO-10. I got my email a few days ago.

Where did the 5.1 picture come from if that knife is not yours? A friend? I have three 5.1s, two not signed by Guy, but both numbered < 16. The third one is signed by Nutnancy, number 29. Nice touch with Guy signing the knife and the card.
