I realise Im about as welcome here as a dose of herpes,
Well, some of what you said in your first post on this thread was rather rough, but if you want to be here and discuss knives you are welcome here as far as I'm concerned. I'm able to get past one angry post, and I think most of us here are as well.

The politest way its ever been referred to, ta :)

I was an ill informed prat about poor old Joe and still feel bad about that.

I still dont agree with the way many people behaved in this thread (me included) so ive stayed away for a while, but thought it was worth making this clarification.

Rgds

How soon people forget.... Yesterday was not the first time someone suggested Martyn might be getting a share of the loot -- far from it. I don't happen to think there's any truth to that; I think his motives are quite different, but it's a thought that has occurred to more than one person and been posted here more than once.

Sorry, Coug, I don't get your point. It's less offensive because he was defamed multiple times?

We may have a clash of cultures here. IIRC, in the UK, if you call a guy a thief and he "goes to the law" (sues), you actually have to prove that he's a thief. Imagine that. Puts a price on wild talk, don' it?

Beef, here are two: Mt. Sequoyah Knives; Ranger Knives. Both guys will work with you (a critical factor), make good, practical knives, and have reasonable prices. Others can chime in with their suggestions of alternatives to the wishful thinking of dealing with "Blade."

Of course, some might elect not to patronize a person with no honor even if his prices are good. Obviously, YMMV,

Martyn has a grudge against "Americans" and is pissed that censorious Gestapo types (like himself) do not run every forum.

He clearly revealed his true nature in this thread; there is no excuse for his behavior.

Martyn was condescending and rude even when he was "polite". When he was called on it he got beligerent and nasty.

Simple fact is, if someone with "honor" as Martyn claims he is, posts trash in BFC that he would NOT allow in BB, then he is not honorable.

Martyn and AB are made for each other. Good riddance asshat.

I man who will not shiit in his own house but readibly and enjoyably shiit in his neighbors

Has NO honor...................Period

I don't know exactly what AB's price range is, but I'm guessing it's between $100 and $200. I can think of 3 makers who make terrific knives in that range and I have knives from all 3 and never had a problem:

Bob Dozier

Tom Krein

Gene Ingram

I see Charles May is also in that range and his work looks nice. Never heard of a problem with him either.

Take $40.00 off, TZ. Then look at prices in the UK. IFthe knives had arrived it was an OK deal.

But there are equal values -- at various price levels. And, of course, those makers do not have a record of repeatedly not delivering the goods.

I'm not into fixed blades these days, but all one has to do is swing over to the "Makers Forum" here ! The craftsmanship, quality, and prices = FANTASTIC !

When comparing Blade's knives to the makers here. . . . .I wouldn't dream of wasting my time with Blade's BS (his wares and his business practices) !

Sean Kendrick has knives ranging from $65.00 and up. GenO Dennings prices are a bit higher, but still offer great value. Daniel Koster's knives start at under $100.00. Check out Gerry Drew (G L Drew) in the knifemaker's for sale forums. He sometimes has great looking little knives for $50.00. In fact, there are lots of makers that sell in the BF knifemaker for sale forums that have knives that are as good or better than Allan's for excellent prices.

Geez if all they want is those bushcraft style knives have a look at Bryan Baker's knives( Svord knives). Semi-custom made, get something decent and indestructable for under $150 NZ!!

Edited to add www.svord.com plenty of choice there. The BB guys have discussed this maker on several occasions. Not really sure why anyone would keep throwing money into the pockets of people like Blade when there are a multitude of makers who are honest and ethical.

I picked up one of those G.L.Drew minis a few months back. The sheath alone was worth $50. Great bargain for a quality custom made knife. Just so happens that I gave it to my stepfather this weekend. He is starting to get into knives a bit.

A young self proclaimed student, baphomet, who registered to the forum about two weeks ago (July 31,2006) and presently with over 100 posts has accused Martyn of being a thief. Way to go, young feller! And you determined that all by yourself? You would never make it as an attorney and be a complete failure as a judge, in court, or of people. To do a man a disservice such as that says a lot about you, I am afraid. Apparently stirring up hornets is your forte---for shame! ---Sandy---

and maybe if Martyn just addressed that post he would not have showed us his need for phychotropic medications!!!

i would say one reason blades knives are inexpensive is he sells 5 knives and delivers one, so in reality a $60 knife is a $300 knife (or more).

if ya send money and dont get a knife its not a good deal/nor inexpensive irregardless of price imho.
