Thanks guys. Cam, I do those fullers by hand with an angle grinder, hence why they look a little rough. But, you work with what you got.

Not rough at all, that looks perfect...How do you do it though, hold the grinder vertically and go nuts? What kinda wheel do you use too?

Just finished polishing this one. Blue dyed stabilized maple burl handle scales, nearly 16" OAL, 1095 steel (3/16" thick, I think). What do you think: Leather or kydex sheath?

Pretty cool. Even after you said that I still have a hard time spotting any irregularities
.
If you need someone to test it out for ya, id fit it in my schedule just for you ;)

Ignore this guy. I'm closer. :D

and on a side note... I also fixed my printer tonight.

:D

Did you try CTRL+ALT+.45?

I went looking thru my box for the war sword and found the ontario SP8 too.

both 1095, both over 9". i forgot about both.

Well since you have two 1095 blades, feel free to send me that SP8. Had my eye on one for a while.

OK now im alone alone :(

SHHHH. It's ok, Hoss is here now.

So tonight started out kinda lame. Everyone I knew had plans so I went out drinking alone. By the time I decided to head home I was seven drinks in and in no shape to drive so I called a cab. Cab didn't take debit cards so I had him stop at a gas station a block from my house where there was an ATM and I kinda knew the gal working that night. After the cab left I was hanging out chatting with the clerk helping her pass time when I realized I didn't have my keys. Clerk offered to give me a ride down to my truck to break into it and get my keys. So she calls up her girlfriend to tell her why she won't be coming home on time but the way she explained it sounded pretty sketchy so her GF wanted to come along to make sure I didn't try anything. So we pick her up and I realize that the stuff I need to break into my truck is locked in my other truck, at my house near the gas station. So we drive all the way back there and manage to break into my Blazer to get the stuff I need to break into my pickup. Make it down to the bar and get into into my truck (and explain to the passing cop what we're doing) and I offered to give 'em the few bucks I had in my wallet for driving my ass all over to go get some burritos. They ask if I want to just go with them to the taco shop so I tag along and hang out with them for a few hours. Went from an acquaintance with a suspicious girlfriend to having two new friends. So the night started out lame and ended on a high note. Except for the latch on the side window I (thought I) had to saw through with my leatherman. Now the window doesn't latch and rattles when I drive but it shouldn't be difficult or expensive to fix. Yes I did drive the truck home that night but it had been hours since my last drink and I was legal to drive at that point.

And the little Coast flashlight I just got totally saved the day. Used it to see inside the truck while I tried to hook the window latch and door lock to unlock the truck. I have a few Coast flashlights and I think they're a pretty good value and I haven't had any problems with them yet. Leatherman Sidekick came in handy too.

Well that DID turn out quite well! Well played sir, well played :)

Bigghoss you should grab a SP8, its a LOT of knife for UNDER 50.

I've been thinking about one, but I have so many choppers it's ridiculous.

I wish Ka-Bar would make a Becker that was similar to the SP8. 9-10" long, chisel tip but with a symmetrical grind (I loathe chisel grinds), forget the saw. Not sure if I'd want 3/16ths or 1/4".

the real help is in drinking beers around a fire :D
This is really the main (only) reason for cutting, splitting and stacking wood. Isn't it? Beer goes so much better with fire. Next year maybe I can coax you out to the beach for a fire and some (admittedly, technically illegal) malt beverage consumption. I'd come and work out with ya if my back wasn't preventing me from being upright, just so's I could check out all your outdoors power equipment. And your ax(s). I'd even bring the pre-fire beer. Cause, you know, beer is the best lubricant for a chainsaw (operator). In moderation, of course.

Anyone have any experience with one of these?

SOG FastHawk in stainless, says "perfectly balanced for throwing". Wally's on sale real cheap for Christmas....very tempting. Might get two....

water and coffee for chainsaws. i'm kinda a safety nazi that way, having seen a few too many reallife and youtubes of people do bad things (heck, some of them were sober ;.)

hopefully, i'll be spending more time at "the wall" up by rye on the rocks with my Bic longboard :> i also do "sport kites" :D

most of my outdoor equipment is "not power". chainsaws. got a leaf blower but it's electric. the riding lawn mower is old, old, old. got a push mower and some scythes. well, one of them works well, the others are Winter project to restore, and stuff. now there's a project for ceracoating. who's got a 36 inch oven for baking? :D the others are much smaller.

isn't it ironic that a fire on the beach could be legal but beer isn't?

Everyone go wish Murph a happy birthday.

Will do :)

...and some scythes...

I like old tools. I have a scythe I rescued from my FIL's cellar. The blade is solid and well worth saving but the handle is FUBAR. Sadly I don't know where to get a new one and I'm not set up to make one myself... I presume they're steamed and bent or something like that?

Maybe I will just knock the worst rust off, clear-coat it and hang it up somewhere as a decorative piece... can't quite bring myself to just throw it away.
