I started keeping a journal of everything going on because i was having trouble remembering LMAO but i got you written down for an axe February 1st or sooner if i get stuff done before then. Just let me know the one you would prefer when you decide and and ill get it locked in and have it shipped directly to you!

Finally a real chance at a saber :D

you're just going to strip it, change the handles, remove the thumb ramp, etch it, thin the spine, and the Fisk it :> it won't even be a Sabre :>

Dude! You're going to give him a coniption! You already know he is in a fragile state! He might go all Dahmer on us!

And thats one of Ethan's 1 offs or proto's in that pic?

Well see, Ethan has always said he wasn't good at grinding, that was actually a FFG 16 but he was using his kalamazoo to sharpen it and well... Now that.

Shoot if he turned it to a recurve with an edge like that id say he is damn good at grinding :D

Well i made me up a target, nothing like the picture above but it should work for a little bit anyways... I hope :) I just used 1 box, then packed that box as tight as i could with cardboard. Now to see if it will stop the arrow. Bow is strung, time to take a few shots!!

What you don't realize, he did that in one pass, with a 40 grit belt... Never even paid attention to the heat levels, damn near cooked an egg on that blade when he was done!

My target stops the arrows fine. 30 feet distance, i know thats not very far at all, but im doing this in my basement and thats all the room I got before i take a chance hitting something important.

Anyway 30 feet, 12 shots in a 9" grouping. Not very good in my opinion from 30 feet. Granted its my first time ever shooting a bow but still im not satisfied with my accuracy.

BUT dang it i need a glove, any more shooting and i was worried id take skin off my fingers.

Where my finger is, thats how far the arrows went into the target

Dang, was that rendered on an Atari 2600?

You're right. Last time I had a real job and needed antibiotics, they wouldn't let me come back work until the doc said it was OK.

My last station used to have a policy like that. We had a clinic on site that we had to get clearance from. But the guys working nights would have to come in during the day and get their clearance and then go home (20 mile round trip minimum) just to come back to work their shift. I don't know if they do that where I am now.

There is a great deal on a 7 in the exchange right now

I'm about 3 hours too late. Looks like you posted this the same time someone snatched it.

It might be the short distance that's causing the poor accuracy. I forget what the minimum distance is but when the arrow leaves the bow it actually flexes. If you watch a slow-mo video of an arrow in flight they wobble back and forth for a bit and they actually need a certain amount of time in flight to stabilize.

Ah yes now i understand the target idea...

DSC08939.jpg

That's the idea, but I was too cheap to put wheels on mine. :D I did use wing nuts on the feet so that I could easily loosen the feet and "fold" them in parallel to the bottom board so that it would store closer to the wall in the shed when not being used. I only had 1 bolt through each "cross foot" piece so that I COULD just loosen the and turn them. Two bolts on each cross foot, while "steadier" made it a PIB to fold them shut.

cool target, Zzyzz (& WW). I can't believe your green light is out, WW. SNAARK. *sigh* someone's gotta do it.....interesting to see who's awake and browsing the forum at this hour...unless I'm dreaming this all up and am still asleep.

Just placed an order for WW's new BK9 and ordered myself a Kershaw Swerve and a No. 9 & a No. 10 Opinel. Then I broke down and finally ordered myself a BK7.

Yes that does make sense i watched some videos, maybe it doesnt have time to "snap" or flex or whatever from such short distance.... Or maybe i just need more practice than 12 shots :D

I wouldnt use wheels either, seem more secure without them

My target fell forward the first time, i had to support it to keep it standing after the shot

Yea man, i planned on logging off early. I had a bunch of old crap stored in my basement that needed cleaning and throwing away. Wanted to make a little 10 yard range with a little more room to move around. After a lot of cleaning and stuff now i think it might be a moot point if the arrow cant go straight in time...but again maybe i just need more practice.

But a guy on a archery forum said for my first 12 shots ever with a bow, 9" group isnt that bad at all, But i have always been pretty decent with accuracy with a rifle, i know its not the same, but id never be happy with a 9" grouping shooting anything.
