Am I the only one that thinks the PM2 is.....Meh.

Well the Para 2 must get lot's O love. KnifeWorks just sold out their second run of the green Para 2 in all of 1 day. I was so caught up in the March Madness I missed it. No problem, I got one the first run. I unlike many others here love the Para 2. No meh for me. If I could carry it at work it would get much more pocket time. The compression lock on the Para is a large part of the reason I love it. The lock on the Yojimbo seems to pinch worse than the Para to me, yet both are great knives. About the only Spydie I am "meh" about, is the Native. Have a few of them but they get little carry time, yet to many this is the cat's meow. I guess beauty is, in the eye of the beholder.

To each their own. I like the Para2 but I don't love it. It did get me hooked on the Compression Lock which I really like though. On a scale from 1-10 I give the Para2 a 7. I much prefer the Yojimbo2 and the Manix2.

I'm sure all the tumult and shouting have drawn many to the PM2 who might not normally have noticed it at all. It's not surprising that some are disappointed with the reality. As for me, I waited until I could buy a regular black/satin at realistic street price and am giving it a fair try. So far my only negative is that it is really not all that much better than my old faithful PM1. When the 2 was originally announced I was happy about the handle change, making room for my fat fingers. Problem is I'm so used to choking up on the 1 now that the 2 seems ill fitted. When all's said and done the forum Native 5 is really all the knife I need but on the odd occasion when I need more the PM1, PM2 or Mili are still tops.

My pm2 came in the mail on Saturday, and to be honest I was underwhelmed. I don't see what's so great about the compression lock. I greatly prefer my Manix 2. I'm carrying the para today but I will probably sell it. I have yet to cut anything with it.
My preference is exactly opposite. I find the Manix CBBL a little unweildy where I can easily close the PM2 with one hand and free-swing the blade closed. I imagine if I had one that didn't swing closed I might find it slightly more difficult.

OK, I will admit that when I first got the PM2 after all the hype and difficulty finding one, I had the meh feeling. But the knife is growing on me.......So I take back my OP.

I concur, I decided to keep it instead of selling it, and I'm glad I did. It still won't beat my manix or GB, but it is a nice knife.

I used to feel that way. Am now kicking myself for selling a number of different sprint PM2's as well as some sprint Manix 2's. At one point I decided that CRK and ZT would be my go to EDC knives. (Not to mention my Hinderer's) Ended up feeling that the ZT's were too heavy/overbuilt, and the CRK's were too refined to be EDC knives for me. Please, no flaming, they are absolutely well made, and well designed...just not what I have decided works best for me at this time. So I bought the first of my 3 Domino's, and I heard the angels sing. :) Caused me to revisit the Spyderco line again. My black/satin PM2 in S30V is my current EDC. Have a couple others inbound, as well as giving an engraved camo/satin PM2 to my best friend for his birthday tomorrow. We also have a Ladybug on each of our keychains, a couple of Manix 2's, and my wife's EDC is a new pink Native...life is indeed good :)

It took a bit to get me to accept my digital camo PM-2... it was the name! I took the first one back to the local store without getting it out of the box. I'm no mall ninja... actually, I am a fat/old retired guy who likes pocket knives. I did make it back to that same store - and left with their least expensive PM-2 - another digital camo! I loved it - great knife - useful for many chores. It's my third most favored Spydie folder... right after my Native and Dodo... and nothing else behind it, save a pair of Spydie fixed blades. I guess that isn't a bunch of praise after all! Seriously, I doubt I'll sell it - the Dodo beats it because it is weird, anyway.

I don't really find them to be "meh", they just fall in between knife categories I like, so do not interest me. It has similar ergonomics to the military, so it is clearly a great knife, I just find if I want that, then I want the military. The liner/frame lock of the military is also more desirable to me in a work knife than the compression lock.

I love my PM2 to death, but mine isn't really too smooth. It feels like it's clogged up. I've even taken it apart and cleaned it thoroughly a few times, didn't help. Now my ZT 0200 is like this and I know taking it apart and cleaning won't do a thing. Maybe I'm just doing something wrong?- I feel stupid.

I had a camo/black PM2 about 18 months ago and sold it to give other models a try. Got one in trade last year and moved that one too, they just never grabbed me. But, they did introduce me to the compression lock, which is great! I love my superleaf, will most likely snag a Yojimbo 2 once they start showing up in stock again, and I was lucky enough to get an order in for the last batch of green CTS-204P sprint run PM2s from KW. So, I guess they are a little "meh" to me as well, but I'm sure the dark green sprint will change my mind on that :-) And hey, if it's still not my cup of tea, I'll be sure to post it up in the exchange for a very fair price (or trade) so another member can enjoy it.

I got to check Out a regular PM2 a while back. It was deffinitely a grail for me so I was glad to check it out. I really liked the paramilitary. It's ergos were awesome, the compression lock was great, and it was a nice knife in general :)

I wanted a PM2 for awhile, I got a Camo/Satin and a Black/Satin, and they just don't do it for me. I mean they are great knives, well built and have nice ergos. But they bore me. I like my Military better and for the size, the Manix 2.

I guess I just don't get the hype.

I've been thinking the same about the endura.

I am glad I saw this before I started my reply! Good on ya man!

I love mine. But I must admit. When it comes to any friction folder. I don't get the attraction.

Yep, it's meh....;)

Imho, the Para2 is one of the best thought out designs ever! :)

I feel the same.
Of all the modern folders I have the three I like the most are the Para 2, Military, and Sebenza(Regular or Classic).
Could not(or will not) go without a Para 2, or any of those three for that matter.

For me personally, its my "go to folder". After spending years looking for the perfect folder (for me) and owning countless others, this has to be the best folder I have ever owned.

I do understand its not for everyone. When I first got it, the PM2 sat in a drawer for two weeks. I wasn't sure if I liked it. It did grew on me....

Later, Battle
