Ammo sales and future survival (another potential political thread)

That is true...:D Man that would be a bloody mess too, I think I would much rather be shot than hacked and wacked...

this action is a last ditch effort and plus it gives the Attacker time to time to himself.....man I should not of F**k with him...as he slowly bleeds out....reminds me of the Black knight on Monty python....just did not know when to give up ! :D

LOL - I love that movie , your arms off , no it isn’t …

I've been a C&R licensed collector for years and have always done my business with J&G. They have always had a tone of battle rifles in stock for me to choose from, even if they weren't listed on the site. They were always hundreds deep in everything. I called them up a little while ago to secure a crate of MAC90's and unbelievably, dude said, "Sorry Dylan. We're all out, and before you ask, we're out of AK's, SKS's, Galils, FAL's, everything. It's all gone. We're going to re-up, but I don't know how quick it will be or how long it will last." I checked the prices on Yugoslav SKS's on Florida Gun Works, a gun that used to cost $125 for a good one, $365!!!! I couldn't believe it. This sh@t has gotten out of hand. A buddy of mine has a crate of MAC90's he has been sitting on for a while. I'm trying to talk him out of them, but he knows what's going on and is trying to charge me retail. I know he paid a little over a bill a piece because i was the one who got him the deal. Gun and ammo sales have gone nuts.

On the ammo side, I found a place that has a pretty good amount of 7.62x39 left that is selling it at pre-Obama prices. I went ahead and snatched a few more cases of that stuff. I'm sure it's not long before they jack their price up too. Everywhere else I've seen it's going for $6.79 per box of 20! Three weeks ago it was the highest price I've ever seen at $4.15 a box.

I sure hope after the panic is done that these prices go back down. I don't expect them to though. Once the prices on this stuff goes up, it usually stays there because now all of the dealers know they can charge that much and people will pay it.

Sad state of affairs.

Remember though back around 1993 or so Bill Clinton era things went just as crazy.... Guns ...Ammo... anything associated with firearms went sky high......Those days are back...Sad to say.

I was in my local Gun shop last weekend and a guy purchased a Norinco SKS Paratrooper model and it cost him nearly $500 out the door...:confused:
that is almost robbery to me for an SKS....

Not trying to start one of those 9mm vs. 45 debates, but why does everyone feel they need an AR platform / tricked out M4 to be good-to-go in a "survival" situation. Not talking about the guys here but it seems like the AR is the rifle that sells the best when these type of political things come up. I sort of figure all a man really ever needs is a good defense shotgun, good handgun and a good rifle and he will be set as long as he has the ammo to feed it. A man can do a LOT with a deer rifle that shoots well. About the only other gun I would add to that mix is a very good rimfire rifle in .22 mag or .17 HMR.

I personal don't care for AR's unless they're free. The only one I've ever really really loved was a Bushmaster Carbon 15 97S that I had. It was the top of the line carbon 15 and the thing was perfect. Other than that, I only like them for attacking humans, and in that scenario, one would be given to me by an armed force or police department. I do like the LAR's, but again, they are for killing people ONLY. No other practical application. I find that, even when it comes to battle rifles, I can do much better than an AR, M4, A2, etc. for nowhere near AR money. For survival type application, Any reliable and accurate firearm will do and there are plenty with small pricetags. Well.... there WERE.

Edit: One of the things that was so nice about the Carbon 15 97S when I had it was that there were NO aftermarket parts for them. They came with an attachable flashlight, muzzle break, and a detachable butt stock. That was it. You only had the option of which model you wanted. No way to bubba them up, even if you wanted to. It made keeping it light and simple very easy, since you had no other choice.

Don't get me wrong. I think we should be able to buy, shoot and use any gun we want. My point is there are better platforms for survival than the M4 and AR style rifles. I would think that the guy who survives "Armageddon" is going to be the guy who is the quiet, silent type that's pretty good at E&E and avoiding fire fights. Maybe I'm wrong.

I think sometimes people just want whatever the goody two shoes say we can't have. ;)

And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, IMO!

This is true. I'm sure Coors tasted 10 x better than anything else in TN. ...because you had to smuggle it across the state line. ;)

One of my father's early jobs.

The allure of having something you're not suppose to have is strong. That's why I tell you that ugly women are the way to go. They don't cost as much. They're split your firewood for you. Love you forever. Tell everyone you're God. Keep the dog fed. Keep the house cleaned....and all without bitching 'cause they know they can't get anyone better. You young whippersnappers will realize this when you hit your mid-40s and you're broke from chasing all those gorgeous model types. A good woman is like an old beat-up shotgun. It ain't pretty to look at and doesn't have all the tricked out gadgetry, but it works every time and you don't have to worry about a federal agent taking it away from you :D

Preach on Jeff. Some of the best lovin and tenderness I ever got was from plus size halloween mask models if you know what I mean. ;)
