If CRK HT wasnt bad, why are there so many complaints? I dont mind it but I have had better HT
My Elmax sucks, Some others complain.
Spyderco does laminate their taichung CF, but any body who knows what CF looks like should know. G10 has better properties for a knife anyway.
Havent heard of this VECP one, but I have heard of a few people who have had VECPs where the lock slips right off the tang.
I have seen a few Sage 2's with 100% lockup
I cant speak for the Caly issue.
Now what I cant wrap my head around is how he CLEARLY shows whatever on video, and people call BS. Ive cut way worse carpet than he was cutting in that video, ANd I have cut about 15 meters of it and finished with a sharper edge. My CRK doesnt seem too bad, in fact it seems good. Not quite S30v though, feels a bit softer, and a bit gummy on the stones.
I just cant understand calling somebody out as a liar for something clearly demonstrated in the closest way to in person as possible.
It seems like there were a few more we are forgetting. They all begin to run in together. Still, calling out someone on a product they make and mess up is ok. Not a darn thing wrong with that. What tends to irk me are the guys who will do things like report how new products, say Spyderco's Tuff for instance, have weak and or defective locks and are closing on their own, or with minimal force. This catches on and gathers momentum enough to affect sales, Has Sal concerned enough to stop production and or shipping and sales until the lab figures out why. Then, after 3 or 4 requests on different forums ( chasing the guy who now won't respond) to return the knife for lab testing the guy who got all this started makes a "manifesto" post stating he is leaving because of his treatment at the hands of "fan boys". In the mean time no knives are returned with problems from this person who began the initial report of defective products, who is now gone still leaving Sal with his new release stalled while he makes an honest attempt to correct a problem that apparently never existed to begin with.
I do find it amusing that there will always be some that come to the defense of even the most incorrect, wrong, no honor liar once he claims he is being picked on. I have come to the conclusion that these guys are issued buttons ( red ones) for their computers which when pushed produce a high pitched squealing noise only audible to people who consider themselves victims. When the alarm goes out ( which us "normals" can't hear ) all the victims gather together in numbers to aggressively mount a defense to a brother "victim", who then proceed to attack the evil bully fan boys using simple but annoying techniques such as the trusty old " so you are saying......" followed by some twisted, distorted gibberish that needs to be corrected, along with accusations such as" well if you would watch something besides feaux news and eat a better diet to help clear up your complexion and move out of your mothers basement you might not be a virgin".
Um, but I'm 52 years old and my son is already out of college and has been working full time for 5 years.......
Ding, ding, ding,....Squeeealllllllll.

I had a defective lock on my tuff, sent it back, and got a strong replacement, the guy who was chased off the forum was telling the truth and got called out as a liar.
promethius19799791 on youtube had a tuff collapse when stabbing a ...microwave , lucky theres a big choil. I told him to send it back, and a month later, he got a much better tuff.
2 guys on a chatroom I am part of have defective tuff's , They dont use them hard enough to worry , but they are able to fail their examples by hitting the spine with their palms. Mint took a little more than that, I would have to hit a little bit harder on my knee.
Me and promethius have received new tuffs. The new ones are SUPER EASY to open, have a PERFECT detent, LESS lockbar tension and SUPER STRONG locks, i spinewhacked a log pretty hard with no fail, and tried some battoning and it was fine. DCDesigns shouldnt have been chased off but he was. I think its a matter of people hearing something they didnt want to hear and getting too defensive.
I am not linking my video, its is private- but I will email it to you.
I didnt want to post something like this here because it will cause a rage, especially in this thread :/
"idle hands are the devils workshop."
this is why i rarely come on this forum anymore . anyways my s110v cfb got used an ass load at plant nursery and now on contruction sites (ironworker local 40) its held edges amazingly
Why is it called the tuff?nothing wrong with what you stated here.
but if people are going to make claims, they should be ready at a moments notice to back those claims and follow up with the company in question.
that's how it should be done.
there's no need to cause widespread panic and make a scene because all that does is negatively effect the company itself.
fyi, you really shouldn't be batoning and spine whacking folders. it's that sort of abuse that causes lock problems to begin with.
(off the palm is ok but batoning a folder is obviously not a bright idea unless the lock is disengaged and even then it's not advisable).
that's a recipe for disaster.
Why is it called the tuff?
why exactly, because jdavis left or because of the jdavis's that remain?
Because how people get jumped here, I can relate. I only see it here and on JD, RARELY on USN, EDCF and Spyderco forums. This place seems more strict than other places too. I have had 2 warnings here and I was just shocked at the reasons for them. A PM reminder would be nice, not a warning reminder, and probably faster for the mod. JD is worse though...dont like that forum, I got a warning on a sales thread because I used instagram for my pics instead of imgur, photobucket etc. I still come ehre cause occasionally theres an interesting thread buried in all the WTB/S/T threads.
Anywho
Back to my tuff
The only reason I battened it and spine whacked it was to see if it was actually "tuff" this time, I pretty much dont do anything more than hack into wood with it as that creates a notch pretty fast with the heft , and size of the knife; and pry with it. On the rare occasion I need to batten, I dont do that silly unlock it then batten sh*te (*+e so I dont get another warning) Cause its damn near impossible lol, Instead I use a lot of downforce on the handle to counter some shock.
i'm positive that spydusse was referring to the davis drama but that's irrelevant.
batoning is not a proper method for testing knives.
if it needs to be done, disengaging the lock is recommended so you don't damage it.
personally, i can't see any reason to baton a folder...ever.
try a spyderco mule (in elmax).
it's a good fixed blade with some pretty decent steel that in my experience has no issues.
i still wouldn't baton a mule but i'm guessing it wouldn't do any damage (try at your own risk).
there's a recommendation that keeps this on topic.
i've had zero issues with elmax and can't say that my speedforms or mule have ever given me a reason to complain.
(( You don't read the rules ( i did in 2011), you don't respect the rules ( I do, Maybe not today as threads like this irk me), and now you openly mock the rules (sure... )
Well, here's a free warning, off-the-record, sh*te (*+e so I dont get another warning) is still a violation, substituting for the correct spelling is the same unnecessary vulgarity. ))
This place seems more strict than other places too. I have had 2 warnings here and I was just shocked at the reasons for them. A PM reminder would be nice, not a warning reminder, and probably faster for the mod.
Esav- Have you considered an auto censor like they have on the spyderco forums? It would make life easier for you guysfriendly reccomendation with absolutely no ill intentions at all.....
I would baton a folder for the same reason I would a FB, Just not as hard

A PM reminder does not leave a record of the offense for other moderators to refer to in cases of repeat offense. It actually takes more time to compose a PM than to use the software as it was intended to be used.
We expect our members to be adult enough to police themselves instead of having to add un-needed software.
... isn't it fun being a hypocrite? I just got a PM warning rather than using the mod 'superpower' of 'making the bad words disappear'.
Yeah, I've been around here for 12yrs... about your age if I'm correct. Let me direct you to either the 1st ammendment, or the rights of a citizen, as is appropriate for you. FREE SPEECH means something.
