And, Cold Steel wins....... as usual

I've still yet to hear any factual rebuttal of Cold Steel's tests . Lots of crying and "we don't care " and " it doesn't matter" , but zero proof or evidence that the tests are not real and true . All this bashing is very weak . :) Cold Steel wins again !:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Dagnabbit, you’re right; Cold Steel is a winner! So much so, I’m going to buy my next knife from them! What can you suggest with thumb studs, 3.5” blade and titanium handles? I’ll wait...

I’ve never had a Tri-Ad lock. I’ve heard people complain they’re hard to close—that depressing the lockbar is difficult. Is that true? If I get a folding knife, I’ll want it to be able to...fold.

Regardless, with names like Fin Wolf, Broken Skull, American Lawman, and Bush Ranger, they must be badass. Bush Ranger. Just when you thought Broken Skull was unbeatable.

They are a bit harder to depress than the typical lockbar, but not terrible by any means.

I think that leaving them half way open for a couple of days slightly reduces the force needed.

I don't care, and I'm still bothering to post a response. Color me "unbelievable". :p

If I'm ever attacked by a motorcycle boot full of pork chops, however, I hope I'm packing a Cold Steel Grosse Messer.
See, you do care!

Cold Steel makes those videos for it's customers and potential customers to whom they appeal . So long as they stand unchallenged , CS does win . They retain their customer base and win new customers . I don't think they much give a :poop: about the haters .

You know if I'm ever attacked by a motorcycle boot full of porkchops I'd hope I'd be on the wrong medication rather than have a knife. :Do_O

The hole was right near the lanyard tube and the mounting bolt didn’t even contact the lock bar. This entire thread seems to be people desperate to defend their purchases.

Lanyard tube? Perhaps you meant lanyard pin? The lanyard pin was removed by Demko during his effort to tamper with the Sebenza lockup by drilling through the CRK and torquing a bolt at the base of the lockbar.

Cold Steel Bush Ranger: the knife that makes you proud to carry a Broken Skull.

I didn't mean to insinuate that CS hasn't scored a win..that is false and I apologize.

San Mai...there..that is a win.

If you poke, don't be surprised to get poked back

I heard that CS edits their video and replaces the CS knives that fail during the "tests".

I give more credit to independent, disinterested, honest testers than I do to any manufacturer's in-house "testing" or comparisons between their product and the competitions, regardless of what the product is.
I also give more credit to a "test" when the "test" is based on real life situations and use.

Note: Even though Cold Steel does not manufacture any of their products, a case could be made that they are, in a very limited sense, a manufacturer, since they control the specifications for, and materials used in the knives and other products they contract to have made and marked with their name, and that the products are made to the quality level requested for that particular product.

Please try to keep the posts on topic. Discuss the knives, not each other.

I don't buy them. If they built their knives here I would buy one. The video that included the Buck 112 that matched CS at 380 lbs was good. I can't imagine even 100 lbs of pressure on any knife. Stupid test.
A while back I was watching videos of Cold Steel comparing the strength of their triad lock vs lock designs from other manufacturers.
I’ll admit, these videos have really bummed me out in a way. I like Cold Steel, I currently own a couple of their machetes, but I have seen locks buckle under pressure much earlier than I expected. I’ll mention a couple that really stand out, Chris Reeve Sebenza and the Hogue compression lock.
These tests disappoint me more with other manufacturers than it encourages me to buy Cold Steel. What are your thoughts on these videos?

Is lock strength the end game? No of course not. It's what sells their knives and they are cheap. Sebenza customers are a loyal crowd. Those knives are built here in the USA and are of top quality.

If any of the CRK’s, ZT’s, Hinderer’s, Kershaw’s, BenchMade’s, Shirogrov’s, Spyderco’s or locking slip joints I own have a lock failure while I’m using it for my daily tasks, then and only then will I consider a CS knife.

Who won between Busse and Cold Steel when Jerry Busse challenged Lynn Thompson to square off and compare fixed blades?

Oh yeah, I remember now, Lynn backed down...

I still wouldn't... If a lock fails, it is because I failed, not the knife... I failed at using the knife correctly, and should have had a fixed blade to begin with.

This could also be labeled as a designer.

I am not a CS fan. I don't even look that direction. I was interested in one of their one piece steel offerings. I doubt I will ever buy one.
