The Cantina...An Internet Bastion Of Freedom

With this crowd we should try for 2000...of course we just might crash this thing

But if not we can do it with no problems

One of the other members of bladeforums found the pic and posted it earlier today. I merely copied it to this thread.

It is kind of cool, though, and captures a distinct, and appropriate sentiment.

And besides, we have khukuris made from files.

What's it got to do with khukuris (and the blood they are blessed with)?

Yep. You got it.

I'm not much one for flag flying either, but today Barb dug out the mount for the short flagpoles we had bought a few years back as I had asked her to do.
We have a flag with a picture of a Bald Eagle on it that we flew in the backyard until it tore last year.

Today I got out the tools and mounted the flagpole mount we had left on what used to be the door to the garage in out little house. Barb got our US Flag with the American Indin holding a Pipe in the center of it out of the closet.
It was/is good to see the Flag flying in front of our house, perhaps this will encourage a few more people on the street to do the
same.
We brought the Flag in just at dusk because we have no way of illuminating it properly for night display. The Flag will be put out again in the morning and will continue to fly daily until either it tears or is ripped down by someone who doesn't understand exactly what that particular Flag means to me.

So far there has been no desecration of our Sweatlodge or the altar in front of it.
Perhaps it's because it's in the back and not able to be seen from the street or perhaps it's because the Great Mystery watches out for the Lodge and our land.
I prefer to believe the reason is because we are watched over.
Time will tell in this troubled time.

I like the pic too Bro.:)

Today I drove all over town in our AMERICAN MADE CHEVY SILVERADO with a 3X5 ft. AMERICAN FLAG hanging out the window!!!! It made me PROUD to be an AMERICAN it also got people all over cheering and yelling and claping "USA" "USA" as we drove by!!

SHOOT!!!!

I missed the 1000 post rollover... Oh well, Blues, I loved the photo!

All the flag waving brings me back to May of 1986 in Ankara, Turkey. We had just bombed Libya (the air attack was launched the month before from our base), and our detail brought the CINCUSAFE to Ankara Air Station for a visit.

We were in a residential housing area for a dinner party which lasted until the wee hours of the morning. I was crouching down between two retaining walls at the base of someone's stairwell across the street from the CINC's party with a cut down Remington 870 laying on my knees (our MP5s had been confinscated at Customs when we arrived). At around 1:30 a.m., the General (Chuck Donnelly) and the command staff of AAS, who were a little into their cups, decided to get out on the balcony and start to sing "I'm Proud To Be An American," at the top of their lungs (for about 30 minutes). I think they wanted the Libyan embassy to hear them... and they probably did.

Talk about a protective detail being a little jumpy... nothing came of their performance, but I know I was too wound up to sleep later that night  .

I still don't like that song.. :D .

Funny how some things stay in your mind. I remember thinking that I did't bring enough 00 buckshot with me for that movement and REALLY missed my MP5A3!

What is this doing on the second page of this forum????

Has the thread died? ....Have our caped crusaders finally hung up their tights and retired? ....Was there a change in the perscriptions of certain forumites letting the medical community halt the online rants of those who collect curved Nepali blades?

Let's sit back and watch!!!

My cape shrunk, my tights are in a bind, and I just missed an HIKV fix  SO JUST DON'T PUSH IT. At least until the next UBDOTD :D

jim

Thanks, Jim, your friend Blues appreciates the kind words.

Just haven't felt real comic of late, but we'll get back to ourselves again soon.

I'd have loved to go to Catoosa. Just not possible now.

The terrorists may be able to destroy the WTC but they don't have a chance agains this thread!

We're baaaaaaaaack!!!!

Must be Clifton. Heard him breathing. Well, if I can't sleep, nobody sleeps. EVERYBODY WAKE UP!!! That ought to start something....

Wal,
Ahhh! Don't you love getting up at this time?
This is my normal time to start work,fi I can only get Uncle to post UBDOTM at this time, they will be "MINE"! What are my chances to get him to do this??:DYou ought to call AC & get him up :D!Wake him up for me,just to be mean!hee, hee :D
jim

That was only a token, in reply to Tsimi's request. AC and his sibling have never been particularly interested in early rising. They never slept, in fact. They hibernated. Their sainted mother even resorted to ice cubes at times. NADA! Like bears, only hunger will bring them out of the sack.
