OK Guys! I finally have approval to start messing with these bad boys. This pic shows almost 600 lbs of machete blades!

Each box held 4 trays of machetes.

And here they are. I've got them counted. I'm going to put a handle on a few. Unfortunately thats about all I've got handle material for. (3/8" canvas micarta) I may do a few in Osage. I have tons of that and Cocobolo.

More pics later today!

thats whats up :D boo-yah

Just curious...and if this has already been addressed, someone slap me...but are you going to start an official order thread, or are these going to be on a first come-first served basis?? Cause I'd love to get a 14"er in osage, or cocobolo.

Unless he changes his routine for these, it will be first come first serve. Better keep a lookout on this forum, looks like they will go fast (just like all of Andy's stuff).

Guys, I'm only doing simple materials on these. You are not going to see a machete with bolsters. I had a sheet of 3/8" nat can micarta. It only covered 8 blades, so two are going to get Osage.

Gotta order a boatload of micarta. Black, and nat can mostly.

As shipped:

Handle sheet. Table saw looked horrible when I got home BTW. After this pic I removed the surface rust, and waxed it.

I'm not making a list or taking orders at this time. After I get a few dozen out I may start a list. Right now I need to get these into y'alls hands so the pics can start getting posted.

Good stuff, Andy! I'm excited to see how they turn out--I've been absolutely loving mine.

These are just a smidge different from yours. I added 1/10 of an inch of width to the entire handle profile in the final product. A little wider handle.

I've got a camera. Send my a 12"er with natural micarta and I promise I'll send it back. ;)

Will someone please explain Osage to me? I don't see why this wood gets so much attention.

I can't tell you from a knifemakers perspective because I am not one, but for me, I like the grain, figure, and durability of osage. It's one of the hardest woods that are native to the U.S. Not to mention, its distinctive quality. When you see a knife with osage handles or scales, there is no mistaking it.

I guess for me it boils down to both aesthetics and durability. YMMV...

That's even better! My only complaint with the 18" is that the very top of the handle is a bit on the round side so it can roll in the hand when chopping. No problem if I hold the handle in the middle or on the end though.:thumbup:

I still want a set of all 4 sizes... you can send one at a time if you wish Andy. I want Micarta handles... any regular color.

Where do I send the check :D

But honestly... I do want all 4 at some point.

The more I see that 12" the more I think "camp knife" instead of machete... does anybody else see this?

This is a positive in my book...

That's why I want a scandi-grind on mine - I got so much more in mind for it than just "machete." :)

The 12" is simply an awesome tool all around. Sublime ergonomics, and great blade geometry. Big enough to handle some serious chopping, and yet controllable enough to do detail work. The multi-position handle and ability to shift the weight distribution really lets this tool shine in many uses. While I do feel more comfortable with it teamed with a smaller tool with a thicker blade I would not feel limited carrying it as my only cutting tool in the bush...it's just a bit big for urban carry...

Glad to see these are in, now I can post more pics with mine :D

andy i need a 12 reread my posts sir :) lol i need to make you some pants for them let me know when you have one ready i can do up. ps congrats doesn't appear you will have any problem selling any of them
