Another counterfeit warning. Watch out for ZT0801 Serial# 0546

My Zt 801 has some annoying blade play, I'm sure its my fault though. It locked up solid when I bought it from Knifeworks 5 months ago. Well I think I'll sell it soon. I don't have the right size torx drivers to tighten it up, and I want one of the old school Zt 200st's before their gone

One way to spot is the font they use.

Another thread on here where I learn something. We have had one person send back a fake PM2 and we were able to spot it pretty easily. The 801's never get returned but now if they do I know what to look for. Scary if you ask me!

From the font pics, the letter "e" is the easiest difference between the fake and the original to spot, for me at least.

The easiest difference to notice is that the serial number is in the wrong place:

Incorrect. Early batches have their serial numbers there

The font looks like the best way to confirm it's authenticity (I tried my best to snap a shot as close to the clone's picture for comparison)

I don't know how the fittings on the ZTs are machined, but in the fake Southards, the pivot and standoffs are round, where as in the real deal they have a flat spot on one side so they cant spin.

I agree ebay has always been good to me but I have educated myself pretty well on what is and isnt legit. And in the few times I was taken I always got my money back. As for knowing its a fake, there are certain places of purchase that ONLY sell replicas and counterfeits. That is where these knives were found.

If you have home depot near you they sell a really nice all in one torx driver that surprisingly is made well and is properly sized (rare for cheap torx) for $5 or $6. At least that way if you do sell it you can sell it properly adjusted.

I was curious about this so I went on the Chinese website and they have 2 dealers selling them for $65 & $66 respectively. The pictures on the two seller's stores showed serial numbers 0536 & 0546. I highly doubt that they are creating unique serial numbers for each knife and wanted to let everyone know about these additional serial numbers. I'm sure that they are not up to the quality of the real ZT's but guessing they are close enough to fool some buyers. They instantly instill fear of buying each model knife they clone. It has made me decide to only buy sprint run Paramilitary 2's as I'm never going to buy one in S30v out of fear of buying a fake. Shameful. It will really injure the independent seller of knifes and force people into only buying from the bigger trusted dealers.
