Setting aside whatever illegality and immorality of manufacturing and selling a fake, the economics tell me there's a hefty profit in the knife business that's drawing in all these fakes and selling them at a price point way below even considering the US labor rate involved with the real ones. Unfortunately, I don't see what the real manufacturers can do; I don't think they can lower their price points to make fakes uneconomical and still survive themselves.
I suppose it's the equivalent of women buying fake name brand purses. The price point alone tells them it's the not the real thing but they see how well it mimics the real thing and they see value in it.
