Consider a knife deal like you would a contract. Do what is necessary to protect yourself and the other party. Not real complicated. Paypal offers protection to the seller and the buyer for a fee. USE IT

Not sure if PayPal works the same but in my experience with eChecks the funds don't clear immediately so you are right to hold on sending goods.

They even tell you not to ship until it clears. I avoid using eCheck whenever possible because it's so slow.
