WOW Marko - looks like a great day today - two wonderful knives!!!!!!!:eek::eek::D

There is another NYKC knife and some display prints on their way to you. ;):)

I like your new avatar. :D

The nice thing about patented punches is they give us clues about age. Here are two NYK HJs, one with a 1902 Harrison patent punch, and the other with a 1916 Fuller punch. The fuller is similar to the Harrison, with the addition of spiral grooves on the exterior, and a wider "roll" (hard to see) which serves as a guide and a finger lift for opening the punch.
With those time frames in mind, note the jigging!!;)

So Charlie, that bottom one with the fish type shield and the PAT. Punch looks so similar to my HSB with the darker peach seed jig that I wonder if they're brothers but from different mothers?

Actually Perry, yours was made by NYKC for HSB hardware dealership like Keen Kutter. They contracted their knives from cutleries like NYKC and Schrade. :)

That's what I thought too, Mark. Thanks! Course the main on mine isn't original. The blade was broken and I had a friend replace it with an HSB stamped blade, but pen is original.

W:eek:W Charlie! Those are awesome HJ's! The jigging on the latest model is a Hammer Brand.

Yes, you are right. The latest (dark one, after 1915) is marked Hammer Brand. The early one (after 1901) is marked New York Knife Co.

The knives have the same mother I'd venture, Perry!!

John Primble India Steel Works Bare Head Harness Jack with bone handles, 3.5 inches closed, circa 1890-1940:

So what do you guys think about this old HJ - the same mama - for another hardware company - or not ?

The center pin is steel.

That looks NYKC made to me Primble. The pick bone looks the same as do the blade and punch. The Primble has rat tail bolsters and a bare end with a different shield making it.....a Primble. :)

Yep, it's a New York Knife/Primble, Rob, made after 1902 and before 1916!! Or thereabouts!!
:D

Thank You Charlie!! I got a PM from Charlie the other day asking for my address. He said he had something for my NYKC Display. The package arrived today, and I couldn't believe my eyes! They were the two awesome old NYKC Harness Jacks that he had posted the other day on this thread.
Charlie, you don't know how much I appreciate these knives and your generosity! I am truly humbled.
