Any love for Trappers?

Awesome spread, Trand. Is that an ebony western trapper just above the bocote on the right side? Don't think I've ever seen one of those.

This Schrade Trapper was manufactured by GEC in 2007 when GEC was just getting their feet wet in the knife building business. It was built for the new owner of the Schrade name (Taylor) and is built on GEC's #73 Pattern/Frame. It is 3 3/4" long with both blades being 3 1/8" long. Both blades are 1095, have half stops, and are centered in the liners . The scales are Black Pick Bone and are very well done. The shield is pinned, the bolsters are ringed, and the nail nicks are match strike pulls.

Hi guys!

Since a couple of weeks I own a Böker Trapper in white Micarta. Which was a Limited Edition. I´ll take a photo as soon as I can. It´s my first collection knife, til now. I don´t wanna use it, because of the limitation.

Kind regards
Andi

Whoa....Trand!, mate...that is a mighty fine spread of lovely knives there my friend..wow!
I think that this one by John Lloyd is stunning... this is on the airwaves to a great guy at this moment...

Man! I love that one. I think I have just seen MY perfect trapper. Does GEC still make this model or something similar?

The Trapper is probably my favorite pattern. Incase my wife is reading thing...I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE AN XL TRAPPER FROM ENRIQUE..

2Dead..I love your Schrade Walden Trapper. You can see that it was used and well cared for. Very nice...Just like my dad used to carry.

Thanks for the kind words guys!!

yobbos, sent ya an email earlier. Hope it helps :)

Here's a recent shot of my GEC #48 single blade trapper alongside a Kerry Hampton back pocket.

Ryanol,
is that the full sized trapper? or the 3 1/2 mini-trapper??

oh and congrats on your first case and your first trapper :)

I think it's the regular one in CV.

Just shy of 4.25 inches.

Local hardware store has a moving sale going on. Paid just north of thirty bucks.

They had some nice jigged bone ones too but they were all SS and I like patinas.

GEC makes a model like this that on their #73 pattern/frame as I said above. They are readily avaliable from GEC.

Figure I could throw in a shot or two. Nothing fancy like a lot of these but it's all I got. The top one is an old bone handled USA Schrade. I think they were called the cigar box series. The next one is a cheap rough rider. When I saw what my dad (who died in September with Alzheimer's) was doing to his Case trapper I gave him the rough rider to bang around with. After he passed and I got it back, it looked like it was serrated he had abused it so badly. A few minutes on the work sharp fixed it up.

The bottom two actually mean the most to me. The ugly one is a Case trapper that my dad carried faithfully for years. It saw a lot of work when he was clear headed and a whole lot of abuse when he wasn't. The one below it was gifted to me right after dad died.

I was talking about the old trapper and the one that I had lost. Out of the blue a member burf151 asked for my contact information and one day I opened the mailbox to find the bottom yellow handled case.

So while these aren't fancy they really mean a lot to me. Sorry for the long ramble.

That Schrade looks pretty nice. Good color to the bone.

Yeah I really like it. It's pretty much is a safe queen though. I just can't bring myself to use it. The cheapest one of the bunch (rough rider) is really not a bad blade. But if you want a knife to snap shut with authority it's not the knife for you.

Sorry for the long ramble.
No need to apologise. As far as I can see, long rambling is the purpose of this forum.

No trapper ownership here, sadly. My purchase of a Case red jigged bone CV slimline trapper was interrupted by an earthquake. I have yet to hear back from the vendor (though I do know that he and his kin came through OK, but his shop was trashed).
