Any Winkler fans?

Question for you all, do you think I should have gone with the spike version of the RND Hawk or non spike?

It won't see any woods use, ever.
Depends on what you plan on using it for I suppose.

The picture of the sub compact I posted above belongs to my wife, hence the front spike and tribal markings, I plan on ordering the compact version in maple for myself without the front spike or tribal markings.

Which ever you decide I think you'll be quite pleased, it's small but extremely light, fast and balanced in the hand.

I want to get the RnD but can’t decide if I want to go compact or full size.
Something to consider in your decision, Winkler's website only lists the full size and compact versions of the RnD.

However when I called and placed the order for my wife's RnD, I specified the Sub Compact and that's what she received.

The overall lengths are approximately 13" for the full size, 11" for the compact and 9" for the sub compact.

I had a full size and sold it, after handling the wife's sub compact and despite how much I like it, I think the compact will hit the sweet spot for me.

Picture lifted from the web showing the different lengths.

I was on the fence about Winklers for a long time and eventually caved in. Finally got a belt knife and understand the hype, but still on the fence; I don't regret getting it though. I sent this one to Jason B. on here and his magic turned it into an absolute razor blade.

Good to know, thanks! I never knew there was a subcompact. I'm leaning towards the compact, but the reality is that I'll probably end up with both the compact and full size eventually.

Greetings! I just got my first Winkler for my birthday, the field knife with maple scales. Beautiful design to say the least. Is it common with Winklers to have uneven grinds to the back of the blade to the ricasso/belt cuts into the ricasso? I do understand this is done by hand.

What did you not like about the full size? I always thought more reach/leverage would be a plus. But I find myself drawn to the Compact also. I would assume it would be even more quick on directional changes being shorter. Easier to carry/conceal.

Hard to decide on the spike as well! Definitely more versatile without, but it’s pretty dang cool.

The full size RnD felt a little top heavy to me given the design while the wife's Sub Compact, despite being light and fast in the hand is just a little to small for my preference... that's why I'm thinking and hoping the Compact hits the sweet spot for me... still waiting on delivery to know for sure.

The spikes an option on the Combat Axe but not the RnD.

Newest addition to the family... Belt Knife in 52100 from 2013 with the original rounded ricasso.

Post some pics M MESAV !

7:25 mark for some RnD action. (He missed the spike strike.). Test video of these hawks is sparse to say the least.

Here's a quick pic of the Wild Bill. I like it more than my combat axe for sure. I decided to go with the full wood handle instead of the half wood/half cord because I like the look of it better. I still need to find some uses for it.

I saw that video too. It was nice to see one get used.

Yes. Almost all of mine are either rubber, and Burlap Micarta... with a few black or tan micarta.

My favorites are the Recon, Field, and Operator Knives. My favorite axe is the Legacy, and Ranger.

Where are the daggers on the left from? Never seen that model before.

Great collection!

D domestique - nice collection. You should pick up some Winkler-Williams collaborations too. \

Since you have a broad selection of Winklers, which one is the best CUTTER? I had a Belt knife but found it ground too thick for my liking. I like the looks of the Field Knife and the Crusher, but don't want to sink that much $$ and be disappointed.
