Any Winkler fans?

I like his knives more than his knives like my hand. Just a little short for me, and I really must have a finger guard on most knives after having my hand slide over a blade (different knife) and do some tendon damage. If he made a drop point crusher with a handle about an inch longer with just a little less of a swell at the back, and a finger guard I'd pick one up in a heartbeat.
The Shadow Strike I picked up almost on impulse is a fantastic knife. I was torn between the WASP and the smooth maple as the maple he uses is gorgeous. For some reason I could fell that tiny bit of weight different and the sculpted WASP just fit my hand.
I have a maple Chipper and that's a neat little knife.
The SD1 is also a nice small blade. Great for pocket carry when I don't want to carry a folder, or can't carry a longer blade, but can carry a small fixed.
And an axe/hatchet not a knife of course but the Hammer Combat Axe is great. I kind of wish I'd have bought the maple or tribal maple but the black laminate is practical even if it doesn't get the character from use that the maple does. Or I might just break down and buy another one sometime.

I can swap the sheaths as both knives are very similar and fit both sheaths. So depending on which one i want to carry i have options for how i carry them.

I used a little felt on the bottom one as i found it rubbed my skin uncomfortably when i was sitting/driving. Much easier than losing some weight lol.

Anyone have any experience using a utility crusher? I’m trying to choose between that and a belt knife.

It depends on the expected use as they are 2 completly different knives.

The Utility Crusher is similar to Winkler's Utility Knife, with a few differences designed for its intended usage. The blade is thicker at the tip for added strength and has serrations on the top edge for sawing. The guarded profile helps to keep your hand safe when striking with the blade end and the pomel has a breaker/crusher spike.

The Belt Knife has none of that but is a great all-round mid-sized fixed blade designed for both tactical and outdoors usage and is a staple product that helped put Winkler in the spotlight.

Winkler also makes a Crusher Belt Knife (pictured) to further complicate your decision...

Another thing to consider, the Utility Crusher and the recommended BK Crusher have non tapered tangs where the BK does has a full tapered tang.

I’m a diehard fan of the BK but I have to admit the BK Crusher fits my hand a little better and feels more secure due to not having the tapered tang.

The Case/Winkler Skinner field knife is the result of a decades-long career in knife making by Master Bladesmith Daniel Winkler and the extensive experiences of Kevin Holland, a retired U.S. Army Special Operator and Navy SEAL.

It is lightweight, well balanced, and flat ground with a tapered tang. It was available in 3 different scale options and was made with 80CrV2. It is one of four different knives made to honor American Military Heros.

They are no longer in production; here is one centered between a belt knife and a Highland Hunter.

I have been trying to find this knife preferably in black micarta for months now. I put a post on the wtb section but those who own them don’t want to let them go.

Nice picture 👍

Anybody know where I could pick up a kydex sheath for my SD2? I like the leather one a lot but need a kydex option at times.

You should still be able to order the kydex sheath from Winkler, or look on the FB groups. There are guys that make them
