Any Winkler fans?

You bring up a really good point. I, for one, will try to be more considerate.

And with that in mind, now that you have that one, have you tried the Blue Ridge Crusher? It's also pretty sweet...

I'm ashamed to say I've already considered it, but I'm still very happy with my Blue Ridge Hunter thank you very much!

I have been researching and it looks like Nitro-v is a proprietary steel from Buderus and it looks like it will be discontinued but there are other manufacturers for 80CRv2 thankfully.

There are a couple of YouTube videos I watched talking about it. Here is a link for the Outdoor Analyst

Looking on google says there are other steel companies for 80CRV2 so hopefully that is correct

I got started with my Belt Knife years ago and have been adding blades. Just received the Field Knife yesterday and am very impressed with it- should have bought one years ago. Went a little wild on the Dynamis Winklers...but like them and finally owning a dagger I enjoy is great. The Case Winkler Skinner is a wonderful blade too btw...light, handy and solid cutter.

Had an Operator for a bit but decided to pass it on.

Here's the current state on my Winkler collection. You have some to post? Lets see 'em!

Bought my first from a limited run he recently offered over Labor day

After years of drooling, I finally picked up my first two Winklers at blade show west. A rubber Blue Ridge Crusher and an ironwood Twenty25! Very excited to try them out
Congrats šŸ‘
I’d post a picture but I can’t quite figure that out

Anyone speculate on what would be the best replacement steel Winkler could use if 80crv2 was to become unavailable? Just a hypothetical.
Also not trying to complicate maters for Daniel and change ā€œtraditionā€ but is there a steel any of us Winkler fans would love to see in one of his blades.
I would be surprised if this topic hasn’t already been come up but i haven’t seen a thread on it?

CPM 3V with a good heat treat continues to be one of my favorites for an outdoor blade. It's not the latest and greatest, but does a lot of things very well. And I'd be just fine with Winkler ditching the blade coating and going to a low-reflectivity sandblasted finish. Offer a DLC version for the dudes who need to be extra stealthy.

I can relate to that.

It’s about a 7 hour drive for me but I’m seriously considering in the next month or so taking about a weeks vacation and making the trip… since my wife will be with me a cabin rental will be required 😁
It’s the middle of next month. Did you go to Boone? At least book a cabin? The trees are starting to change. We missed it last year. Going to Asheville 2weeks from now and planning on skipping I-40 and taking the blue ridge parkway back. Done it before and it doubles the return trip. Hopefully not too late for the autumn views.

Guys, I think more serous consideration needs to be taken about other people's financial situations and lack of self control before posting pictures of these knives, look what you made me do.

And yes, I'm joking. Winkler's awesome 30% MIL/LEO discount made the decision very easy and not as painful on my wallet.
Is it 30% now? I was very happy with 25%. Either way any discount for the right reasons is awesome and i am humbly appreciative.
