Anyone else looking forward to the GEC #83?

To move the discussion away from politics ... I just ordered this:

It's always a tad scary to invest that much money in a unique natural product that you couldn't touch before ...

The Autumn Leaf Jig is very pretty!
And yes, I'm still very much tempted ...

Yes 555, I'm very pleased.

burningcrow, from the looks of that mark side you won't be disappointed. NICE!:thumbup:
Regarding being tempted...for me there's the Autumn Leaf, Tortoise Shell, Micarta, Stag, Cocobolo etc... all calling me by name.:);)

I just picked up my # 83 LB in Gabon Ebony. The wood on the back side has an odd grain that looks like a bar code running along the middle of the handle. Not an issue, just different.
This is very much like my # 77 SFO in African Blackwood: smooth, slender, Perfect ! I suggest you get one. As soon as you have it in hand you will be so pleased that you bought it and likely will regret that you did not buy 2 or 3 of them as they would be a superb gift to a special friend or family member.
This # 83 is truly a Great knife.

I think these knives are just plain cool. The size is not much different than a GEC 15 but they feel better in hand than I was expecting. So far I have the Northfield Cocobolo and Autumn Feathered bone. OD Green Tidioute, Northfield natural stag and a Yellow Rose bone are on the way.

I might have to get a couple more in the drop point blade, my personal favorite blade shape of the two. :)

Thanks Bob. And thanks for posting the picture because that's exactly what my knife looks like too.
Every now and then a knife comes along in which the design, meaning proportions & size, is 'just right', and is instantly appealing to the majority of people. This GEC #83 is one of these knives.

It just instantly feels right for days when a big knife is not needed or a secondary watch pocket knife is wanted. As soon as I took it out of the packaging, I said wow! That's a big little knife.

The model 83 really is a great office knife. Large enough to be useful but not large enough to scare anyone.

Agree with statements above. The 83 is a surprise winner in my mind. I just handles so nicely. It's easy to pocket and darn good looking. I have been carrying mine since the day it arrived.

I knew this one would be a winner. Lockbacks are so useful and the size is perfect for a watch pocket in jeans. I ordered a stag.

Have you guys found these to have enough blade profile to pinch open? Anyone have a clip yet?

Drew, there's just enough blade to pinch open without any real trouble. I haven't seen any clips released yet. You probably wouldn't have enough blade profile on the clip blade to pinch open. Just a guess though.

Is that your knife? Some real nice looking stag on that one.

2 Stags and 1 Autumn Leaf to be shipped tomorrow. Still waiting for the Stag with Clip to be built.

I'm holding out in the clip blades just to see what looks/feels better. Just hoping some drop points are still around in case I opt for one. The Ebony or the (basically white) black camel bone are calling to me hard.
