Anyone else looking forward to the GEC #83?

Actually, the only thing that kept me from buying a "light" (almost white) black camel bone knife was that I already have the tortoise shell acrylic on my list, still want to get a jigged bone, an orange bone and a stag one ... ;)

And I totally agree with MCar, the light ones are actually much more appealing to me than the dark ones.

I get the dirty road rash reference. But I think it's way better in-person, but YMMV.

I bought a Northwoods Norfolk a while back in blue Camel Bone. Initially, I was disappointed and even emailed Tyler for a return form. I'm glad I did not go through with the return. The Norfolk seemed disappointing because the blue was not vibrant, like that on my Fremont Jack. But in reality it's more apropos. The Norfolk is a refined "gentleman's" folder (sorry ladies ;)) and the somewhat muted and softer-in-texter blue Camel Bone is more appropriate for the pattern. Now, after about a year, I could not imagine giving up my Norfolk and love how different it looks against my Fremont.

I feel like the 83 is similar. It's a more refined knife and I'm glad the black Camel bone is muted and softer in texture compared to my Broadway Jack. I wonder if when SFOs are done, if GEC asks about a "density" scale for the color in the bone (like in a Thai restaurant.... "How many stars?" (hehe)).

I'm not affiliated with KSF; l'm really not trying to "push" these. It's just that I got a couple 83s in the mail yesterday and I fell REALLY hard for my light black Camel bone (but not so much for my dark black Camel bone). I'll try to post pics. Evidently I'm more dense than I thought--can't, for the life of me, figure out how to upload a jpeg.

Nice pick! I'm a little jealous ;)

I just succumbed to the "black" camel bone 83 as well. It was a tough choice between that and the ebony, but since the last of those that I was aware of disappeared yesterday before I made up my mind, the choice was a bit easier. I also have a couple of other knives with ebony covers that I'm considering, though no camel bones at the moment. (And I'm also considering how I'm going to pay for all these nice GEC offerings...)

I think I picked no. --18 from the remaining camel bone covered 83s. I think there are 6 left at the moment.

As a poster just pointed out, I also think the lighter "black" camel bone covers look better on this knife than the darker ones, and I still had a pick of some nice light ones. Not much contrast between the cover and the shield, so I'm going to have to see how I like that.

There really seems to be quite a range of color intensity on these dyed camel bone covers, so often something to suit everyone's taste. My Madison Barlow has a very deep bright blue on the covers, while my Mako, though called blue, is really a very muted and pale aqua green.

My first one arrived today, won't be my last. No side to side play, up and down only a hair, as good as any production lockback in it's price range. Hope they make a few in some kind of ivory and or cyclops.

Gevo & Mark : They will be posted as soon as I get them . I have not got the E-Mail from CK yet. I need the little brothers for the 73.

Thanks MCar, LOL

Toddwalla had a good idea.
Black Tascosa (83) next to Buck 55

In hand the 83 is much whiter. Actually looks like Italian marble.
