Anyone else looking forward to the GEC #83?

Nice redsparrow !!! I like the lighter bone as much as I do the darker. It was a toss up for me. The color on mine is different in different light ... from a sorta violet through the grays and into black. Regardless of dye intensity one way or the other, I'm loving the smooth camel bone. The finish is excellent.

There's a little vertical blade play on lock-up but doesn't bother me. Almost unusual to find a knife with absolutely no blade play what so ever anyway.

Beautiful. Had I seen this pic before, I might not have spoken ill of the darker "black" camel bone scales. That is one nice looking little knife.

Does anyone know of any upcoming SFOs with bone scales of any sort for the clip point run of 83s?

All exceptional knives, BrotherJim, Mark, Chief.... I think Sarah said it best a couple days ago...

I haven't seen a cover I wouldn't want, which speaks to the appeal of the pattern itself.
...Sweet, sweet little lockback,...

I have to agree... I'd like to have one of each....very very well done GEC!!!

I still need to take some photos but my green micarta covered 83 arrived yesterday. I like it so much that I put a cocobolo with clip point blade on order today.

Just about the perfect size for an EDC.

As far as I know Derrick ordered a bunch of #83 clip blades with orange camel bone scales ...

Thanks. I had a thought after I made that post that maybe I should just check the GEC website. Yeah, who woulda thunk it? And sure enough under the August production schedule, there's the orange camel bone SFO. Fortunately for my wallet, I'm not much into orange. Then again, I do kinda want a clip point 83...but I should get the ebony. But orange is a nice fall color, and with autumn fast approaching...

After looking at all the comparison pictures (thanks everyone who is posting them) between the GEC #83 and the Buck 055, I'm going to stick with my Buck 055s and not order a GEC #83. Of course there is a heck of a difference between the blades of the two knives but I do like the clip blade the most so I guess with Buck, I'll stay. Then again, as you guys know, who knows what'll be down the pike later on.

That is a good looking Buck 55. No reason to swap it out with a 83 if you are happy with the Buck.

GEC has been hitting all cylinders lately...good time to be a traditionals fan

Yes, it sure is! Comparing what was being made 10-15 years ago, the traditional selection today is nothing short of phenomenal.

I held fast NOT getting in on the 83's, until the influence of this thread got the best of me.... :foot:

cocobolo & yellow rose on the way!!:thumbup:

Anyone else notice the "Hillary for Prison" button they snuck in this pic? Wonder how many will be in the tubes... :)
