Anyone else looking forward to the GEC #83?

What's the deal with all the camel bone?. It's everywhere...... Why? Statement or what. weird in my book.. I'd rather beaver jaw.

From what I understand it's denser than cowshin making it absorb dye in an irregular way creating almost an Appaloosa effect. I guess it's also probably more durable than cAttle bone but possibly more prone to cracking/chipping? Seems like GEC stabilizes it in some secret way though.

Drew, there's just enough blade to pinch open without any real trouble. I haven't seen any clips released yet. You probably wouldn't have enough blade profile on the clip blade to pinch open. Just a guess though.

Thank you Bob :)

First #83 Tascosa in Germany, I wager ...
Tortoise Shell Acrylic with the PPP logo.

Nice burningcrow! How do you like the action on it?

Thanks!

I really like it. It's really easy to open, but still has a nice snap opening and closing. Easy enough to unlock. No noticeable blade play.
I have to say that this is one of my favorite knives of any kind so far. Great EDC size, beautiful shape, great material. Just perfect.
Absolutely looking forward to the other ones ... ;)

It is more dense than cow bone (supports more weight) and does take dye differently.

I have not noticed any issues with it. It is heavier (in raw form, but indistinguishable by me on a knife)

Received a Stag and an Autumn Leaf today, both real beauties, both very well made.

I'm not usually a lockback guy or a small knife guy, but I ordered an OD micarta clip tonight.

Looks like you pick the best two covers available on the Northfields, Old Engineer.:thumbup:

I thought it was a statement or something like the Infidel logos. Not a material I would expect on a traditional American knife.

I think I did too. I reserved some ( 3 ) Stag but did not know what the Jigged bone would look like until the postings from the GEC Rendevous . I was lucky and found the Honey Hole that bought all of the Proto-types and I bought the Autumn Leaf.
The clip blade stag was still not able to be ordered yet.
I see that you got a Black or White Camel Bone . I really like the looks of yours and would have got one of them but , I am trying to just get Northfields.

Yes Harry, I did pick up a black/white camel bone (mostly white) and an ebony both Tidioute. If there are any Northfields left when my budget recovers I'd like to have one of the clip blades. The 83's are an excellent design. I'm especially partial to the Autumn Leaf, thanks for showing yours.

Man I wish they did a stag clip Tidioute. I like the simple look without lined bolsters or a lettered shield, but ooh, stag . . .

Green micarta Tidioute drop point in hand. Clip point Ebony on the way. Life is good.
