Anyone else tired of the excessive flipper craze?

Darn, you snagged my post before I could delete it for being a worthless post :D More power to you for liking frame lock aesthetics, gives you many more options. But on my half, saves the old wallet ;)

What other designs are those?

Here are three examples that have worked well for me so far. The Curtiss has an over travel stop built into the pivot, the Hinderer has one on the frame, and the Shirogorov has one integrated with the steel lock interface.

How are the lockbars holding up? They dont seem to have bent or broken! :D

I can finally relate to the frustration lefties here must contend with! Heh.

Thx.

Kind of ironic- As a lefty I was attracted to the flipper as a way of getting nice knives which otherwise are annoying to open- without changing around how I open each separate knife.

However, when I get a "lefty" knife- I do enjoy it without a flipper over with.

I'm also kind of tired of flippers, not entirely though! :) I still buy them occasionally and I want a Mantra...

But there are mainly three things I don't like about flipperknives:

First is appearance. More often than not they interfere with the lines of the knife in both open and closed position and thus makes them uglier. One nightmare example is Medfords first so called flipper.

Second, They often gets in the way. Either in closed position when they snag all things close by or open - I don't always want a bloody guard on my knives.

And third: With a flipper you can't really control the opening action. Sometimes I prefer to open my knives in a slow and controlled manner. That's much more difficult with a flipper.

You know, even though I am a flipper fan, I can see the negative aesthetic aspect of a flipper tab. Front flippers (thanks to Blues for teaching me that) seem to be the say to go to avoid flipper tab. Now that you mention it, there isn't really any opening mechanism that flows with the knife perfectly....

Except for the Stan Wilson non flippper flipper. If I could only have one knife, it'd be that :D

Jamesh Bond, I'm down with no flipper movement. So here's my down with the flippers post. Down with flippers, boo, flippers. How's that.

I don't know if I would say in "tired" of the flipper craze but I do see knives released that I would like to own if they weren't flippers.

I don't mind some flippers like the domino where you can use both methods of deployment. I would say I do stay away completely from assisted openers.

I agree with the Medford thought, what an abomination!

I do like a bloody guard on my knives, just in case...

Don't really care about scaring the masses with my knife opening too fast...if they know me, they know that I am not a threat.

Haha- dislike for frame locks and flippers?
I prefer flippers and frame lock.
Suppose titanium gets feathers ruffled too?

Love my flippers!! Love my framelocks, and autos, and manuals, fixed blades, and...
Love my super steels, carbon steels, stainless steels, and my non-ferrous super metals!

The only flipper I have ever had any experience with are my ZT0350's, but they are Assisted Openers. I much prefer my Spyderco PM2, Manix 2, and Manix 2 XL. I just like the more manual opening.

If I can find a ZT that is like them, I'd buy one.

No need to hate.. don't like them means one's focus and choice of things to buy is largely narrowed down.

I like a nice well made flipper as much as my slipjoints, fixed and non flipper folders. There's a different day and application for each.
