I have two knives in a near-by USPS sort facility, (according to tracking) Friday night and leaving at 8:00 PM. Expected them to be here Saturday morning as they always are. Didn't show Saturday, or today.
I called the shipper/store and they said I should file a claim with the post office after 30 days. If they don't show up. I said you didn't insure them that won't help me. She said well we don't have too much luck with lost package claims.
I said so you won't do anything if they don't arrive? She said no. I said well I will have to file a undelivered item claim with paypal, if they don't. She said we would rather you didn't we shipped them and if you do we are out the money and the knives. We can't offer insurance anymore because paypal takes care of it. I said oh, I see you are saving money by shipping as cheaply as you can,(shipping was included) then you don't want me to use what's available to recover my funds when the item you shipped is lost.
Well, anyway they don't want to do anything about the knives if they never show up and they don't want me filing claim for an undelivered item, through paypal. (which is my only recourse as it's set up) I expected a bit more concern than that!

You can but 9 times out 10 it won't do any good. I would call the postmaster to see if they can shine any light on the missing packages.

Can you make a Paypal claim if it's outside the Bay?

This was from an eBay store.

They have to refund my money if the seller does not deliver to my address. It's part of the paypal protection. You pay with paypal, you're covered for 100% of purchase price.

Yes, but only if you bought from ebay or ebay store...which you did...so yeah file a claim pronto.

I will if it's not here by the 20th. That's the day I'm allowed to.
I just think something fishy is up being it came within 50 miles of me and now it's not showing up. Hopefully it will be here and I won't have to hassle with a claim.

In theory, you're covered, but there are a ton of exceptions that can prevent it from actually happening.

Having said that, I had an ATM machine fail to dispense my $400 about a year and half ago, but my account was charged. I filed the claim and to my astonishment my full amount was credited back to my account within two weeks. They would commit to nothing in the interim. Luckily, I was at a bank (not my own and won't do that again) and immediately reported the loss to them as well. It all worked out, but it was very stressful:eek:

I filed a claim with Paypal on an item I purchased from a seller who took paypal. The seller never responded to my claim, but they also didn't have any money in their PP account, so while I won my claim, I have no way of collecting. I'm not a real huge fan of Paypal.

Yeah I hear you on that, but this store is huge so that won't be the problem.

I have filed two claims-one for non-delivery and one for the seller lying about the condition of the scope.

Both times, Paypal refunded my money and quickly.

It helps if you used a credit card since you have the ability to charge them back.

I hope not. My claim is only for about $50.00. It just pissed me off that even though it was a Paypal authorized they still make you jump through hoops to try and get your money back from them. I hope it all works out, Jill.

I used the paypal credit card. It's American Express I believe, I only use it on eBay.

I have a claim pending with paypal now, not much money, $20 or so from a dud seller who stiffed a lot of people on sle-bay.

I usually park several thousands of dollars in my paypal account. If they doink me on this $20 deal, I will take it all out and place it elsewhere, may even close the account if they can't provide the protection that they preach about.

i got screwed once on a transaction with paypal, and it was through ebay with a scammer that they eventually caught and banned, worst people to deal with, i never got a cent back because they said i had no proof, status was "pending" for 5 months before i finally got an answer... how can you prove that you didn't receive an item??

make a google search on paypal and readup on the worst nightmare stories you've ever heard. they claim that you're covered with them, but they'll find any way possible to keep from giving you your money back.

Isn't the proper procedure for the shipper to reimburse the buyer and have the shipper file a claim with the carrier?

I'm having some issues too. I'm hoping that it's just busy for the postal service.

If there is a tracking number saying that a package (from the seller to you) was lost somewhere, that's the the shippers problem, not the sellers.

I would file the Paypal claim.

I have done this before for items undelivered, ($600.00 for radio equipment), and paypal refunded my cash immediately after the seller failed to offer an explanation.

I filed a claim on a $900 knife that never showed up and was actually delivered to the wrong state. (I assume the seller mis-labeled it) I was taken care of by Paypal. I had the money back in my account within a few days.
As soon as the tracking info showed it delivered in Ohio and not Illinois where I am, I filed it.

Funny story..... I shipped a knife to a APO. I put a recall on it and watched thru tracking as it came back to my sorting center just 5 miles away. The sorting center kept kicking it back of to Boston. Boston would send it back right away and then the sorting center by me would kick it out again to Boston.
This went on for over a month until someone grabbed it out of the system one day.

Maybe your is doing the same?

after not recieving your item, paid with paypal, bought from ebay or not -

call paypal and claim a non recieved item. they might say.....well, you didnt

buy on ebay, you tell them, hey, what about your highly praised buyer

protection ? you promise is : we got you covered !

tell them you use paypal a lot, and they get a huge cut......now, that

something went wrong, you want them to help you out.

THEY CAN !! they did it for me several times, when someone was trying to

scam me, several people on BF know the story.

the seller could not prove having delivered the item, i got my money back.

dont give in...... ask to talk to supervisors, blah, blah blah.

good luck !
