All this talk about "price gouging"
"Scamming our servicemen"
No one is twisting our serviceman's arms to buy the knife
It's kind of depressing to see yet another self-professed advocate of the free market fail to understand its workings.
One of the mechanisms by which the invisible hand of the market works is reputation. Word gets around about a product, and sensible people weigh the opinions of knowledgeable people before making their purchases. That's what is happening here, and you have no reasonable basis to complain.
Just because a scammer isn't physically coercing people doesn't make him less of a scammer. It certainly doesn't render him immune from questions and comments.
If they want to pay what you people feel is a lot of money on knife let them
Why does it bother you guys so much??
I recall some people asking similar questions about journalistic scandals at the New Republic and the New York Times. As I recall, those people had a political stake in pretending that those scandals were no big deal. I don't know what dog you have in this fight, but you're wrong.
I know why I care. I care because I care about knives; if you don't, then why are you here? I care about quality and price. I care about encouraging good quality products at good prices, and I care about the reputation of others in the field. I want to see scammers brought to account because I want people to get good knives for their money, and I want people to have reason to trust knifemakers.
The question isn't why we care, it's why you don't.
Let the market dictate the prices
And maybe the prices will go down or the product won't be profitable if responsible people get the word out.
The market isn't "karma" or some other cowardly excuse for individual inaction. The market is the sum total of individual actions. It works because people act in their interests.
