Anyone heard of this guy?

... I can jsut picture his instruction booklet that originally came from Tops and wherever its says "Tops" its whited out and replaced with ME.

Sorry, Brian, but you are wrong IMO.

The sincerity of erroneous beliefs and honorable military service does not, ipso facto, make Mr. Peters worthy of respect. Otherwise, Hitler, who sincerely believe his shit and was a genuine military hero in WW I, was a great guy.

Such facts might make some of the personal attacks inappropriate, but not attacks on the ova'-da'-top sales pitch, nonsense about multiple heat treatments, and not so subtle threats of lawsuits for daring to "dis" his product.

Nice this thread is still alive!!
What does a guy selling a knife for 600 bucks have to do with me caring about knives?
I explained this already, but I'll try again: It matters because when con artists prosper without anyone raising a critical voice, they proliferate, and they crowd out the honest dealers. The analogy to Gresham's Law is not exact, but it's close.
See my Young Trent posts and tell me I don't "care" about knives
OK, then why does a fraudulent knifemaker not concern you? It's up to you to explain why you would silence criticism of a fraud.
I don't claim to understand it's "workings"
A silly dodge. I didn't ask if you understood every working of the market.
I knew someone would accuse me of being in cahoots with Mr. Lightning
It's actually kind of flattering
I never made such an accusation. I specifically don't think you are in cahoots with him. I stated I don't know why you're taking up for him here, and I meant it: I don't know. I also don't know you are flattered by the idea that you'd conspire with a fraud.
Anecdotal evidence has no validity with me for future reference ;)
It wasn't "anecdotal evidence". I mentioned some instances of fraud in another context in order to make a point, and they're not anecdotal; they are matters of record and can be looked up.
I do predict that Mr. Lightning will lower his prices drastically in the near future
If not then he might stay in business maybe a year at most
I hope you're right, but it can only help if his fraudulent claims and shady practices are publicly highlighted.
Not trying to fan the fires again
I felt I needed to rebut the accusations against my knife lovin' character and motives
The accusations were purely in your head. I wondered why you, a known knife aficionado, would not be concerned about frauds in this field going unchecked. I wondered why you, a presumably uninterested party, would argue for shielding "John Lightning" from criticism. I still have no idea why; you haven't presented any coherent reasons that I can see. That's fine. You're unlikely to convince anyone else, I think. People in this forum have done a lot to expose frauds in the past, and they'll happily keep doing it in the future. Your plea for silence will be ignored.

It is now called the RAZR, the knife made by TOPS
When will these frauds just dry up and stop
TOPS made this knife to sell as their own
but along comes J. Lightning, just another unknown
A world traveled operator from austria to asia
he spews so much shit, it will truely amaze ya
The knife's coat is a secret, been heat treated 3 times
It is now I wish the word BULLSHIT would rhyme
Who is J. Lightning, a soldier, a Merc
Nah just an idiot, a big freakin jerk
He's just another fraud, just a big scammin faker
Steals a TOPS knife then claims he the Maker
Then he comes to Bladeforums to just call us names
Screams we defamed him, he's filing a claim
His wife is so frightened many tears has she shed
They went to their neighbor cause he is a Fed
Claimed we have scared them, we cursed and we lied
Hell, even their dogs' scared and his names Homicide
This market ploy I hope will not fly and will die
and the knifeworld will wave to J. Lightning...........GOOD BYE!!:D

Wolfman you need to be writing some books my friend. That poem was BEAUTIFUL! Also made me squirt some cola through my nose. Both my parents were English profs at Ohio State. I know good writing when I see it! (Insert applause here!) Jim SEMPER FI

If you had wrote me into a verse I would have named my first son wolfman,
now I guess it will be plain old Homicide.

Wolfman, I've enjoyed your humorous posts.:D In fact, I think you should start writing under a more tactical sounding name.

I now dub you I. P. Raindrops.

Regards,
3G

wolfmann, maybe you and Esav should get together and write "The BladeForums Guide to Poetry".:D

Why don't we all throw $5.00 in the hat and raise the money to buy one so it can be tested? I do not know enough of you to say who should do the testing(you are funny buggers though), but someone with experience should do it.

PS- Bushman5 I need you to hook me up w/ a Blackberry. I am an operator in the Fish Creek Sportfishing Association and am training some newbies next week. We are going after the carnivorous Canadian Marlin, and a knife like that could be the difference between life and death!(we forgot our rods last time)

I think it would be best to buy one, to see what the guy is like, and to test the knife. The only question if we do is what happens to the knife when it is all said and done?
