What does a guy selling a knife for 600 bucks have to do with me caring about knives?
I like collecting knives (mostly the historical aspect like a lot of people here)
I have a long history in MY life with knives (as well as my father, my knife "mentor");)
See my Young Trent posts and tell me I don't "care" about knives :cool:

It's kind of depressing to see yet another self-professed advocate of the free market fail to understand its workings.

I don't claim to understand it's "workings"
No one does...Economists rarely agree..It's all "models" anyways with unrealistic assumptions
I have been trying to figure out it's workings for about 22 years now....

I knew someone would accuse me of being in cahoots with Mr. Lightning

And maybe the prices will go down or the product won't be profitable if responsible people get the word out.

I recall some people asking similar questions about journalistic scandals at the New Republic and the New York Times. As I recall, those people had a political stake in pretending that those scandals were no big deal.

Anecdotal evidence has no validity with me for future reference ;)

I do predict that Mr. Lightning will lower his prices drastically in the near future
If not then he might stay in business maybe a year at most

Not trying to fan the fires again
I felt I needed to rebut the accusations against my knife lovin' character and motives

$600 to discover all the crap he claims about steel and heat treats is............crap?

I would pay maybe $250 and give it to someone here to really put it thru it's paces but J. Lightbulb won't sell one for $250, and the magical coating he applies might be a cancer causing material and I would hate to see one of my fellow knifeknuts come down with cancer of the blowhole or something.

There are 100,000 members here and while maybe half visit BFC and half of that posts with some regularity (just a random guesstimate, I have no real clue) no one has yet to post that they have owned a Razr or used one......period!!

I imagine when J. Lightpost and his wife CEO read this my life may be in danger. Maybe they will sell me a Razr to defend myself!!:eek::p:rolleyes::)
 
The only possible thing that could be tested is whether or not he ruined the heat treat when he butchered a knife made by a reputable company.

His services remind me of some idiots on Gun Broker who were trying to sell a S&W revolver ruined painted with red krylon (an abomination service they will provide for any gun, any color- for something like $110) :eek:

Only, in his case, he would also be claiming he made the pistol from scratch with a mysterious alloy he forged out of a meteorite, then heat treated 26 times.

That's like a user's manual for a toilet bowl..........
 
I do believe that invention was for removing water from your toilet by blowing air into the bowl.

at least the inventor put some actual thought into it.

It probably begins: "Thank you for buying one of the finest knives made today. This TOPS made knife is purchased retail by me and I grind and grind on it until it looks downright silly. I then heat treat it for reasons that escape logic. In order to use this knife safely you will need to buy the custom sheath; the design belonging to someone else but oh well. Please follow the directions that are listed on page 2 and 3 and pay close attention to the instructions on how to keep the secret coatings from wearing. Enjoy this TOPS knife that I now call the RAZR in order to charge lots more money..............................J. Lightning":D:barf::p
