Anyone heard of this guy?

So, you self-proclaimed “experts” have any real survival experience, or background at all, and I don’t mean a weekend survival school?
Do any of you geniuses have any first-hand knowledge of our gear? Or even second-hand?
I’ve had enough field experience not to judge any equipment before I’ve spent at least a week or better in the weeds with it. You haven’t even held it in your hand, so what qualifies you to make the criticisms you have? What qualifications do any of you have? None, I bet, for the reasons I’ve just stated.
The only opinion that I value is from professionals, not wanna-be’s. You guys need some real experiences and maybe you’d have something real to talk about. We get feedback from real men, soldiers that put their life on the line every day, sending us letters about combat encounters, using our Razr in combat, as entry tools, popping windows and doors, using it to break seat brackets to free trapped gunners that have the side of their armored vehicle caved in on them, and they had to be extracted with the chair, etc. ….
We send boxes of field munchies to theses men, with their gear, and they send us souvenirs and letters of thanks for our tough gear and support to our troops. These are real professionals, maybe you should send them some of your third-hand opinions and see what they think.
I am so tired of runny-nosed wanna-be’s, I could scream, and it makes me ill. Maybe I’ll point a few real soldiers to your little site, that could make for good reading.
You all don’t have what it takes to be real field operators, or you would be, so the best you could do is stay in the comfort of home and try to impress everyone with your banter.
You know, it’s sad and even pathetic that you waste your time (and other people’s) hiding behind a computer, insult and ridicule someone and something you know nothing about at all.
You can’t afford my products, so you sit behind a computer and gossip like old ladies in a sewing circle. Really guys, take a look at yourselves!
I don’t have to ask any of you what any of you ever designed, invested in, or had the initiative to develop, ever, much less built with your own hands. Dumb question, I already know the answer: absolutely nothing.
Know why? Because you can’t, plain and simple. That’s why you’re doing what you’re doing right now.
If any of you would care to come to my shop to see how someone who actually crafts steel and equipment, I truly invite you to see how real equipment and gear are hand-built.
You all have my contact number, I’m sure it would be one of your first real life experiences to step out from behind a computer and meet someone face to face for a change. My shop is quite impressive, in the middle of Florida’s Everglades. Now let’s see who will take me up on the invitation.
You know, one of the most disturbing things in the world today is that most people’s mouths are as big as the internet, sure is safe there, huh, fellas?
If you guys wish to spend a weekend out here at my Ranch, you are more than welcome. I’ll even call your Mommies and clear it with them, if not, don’t bother real people.
Your “fun” at my expense is greatly outweighed by the e-mails we receive from real soldiers from Afghanistan and Iraq that have had our equipment for quite a while now, and from a year to two years later still thank us for our great gear.
Hey, I got a novel idea! Why don’t you guys consider enlisting in some area of the military, so that you may even have to use a knife at some point (other than using it for cleaning you nails). But somehow I really can’t see that happening with any of you without a computer screen to hide behind. God forbid you should ever have to confront or be confronted with any kind of weapon, and your Mommy’s not there.
I shouldn’t be so critical of you guys as you are of me, for the same reason I stated earlier, I haven’t met you and I don’t know you, but what am I supposed to think other than you have no backbone or any basis on which to make your opinions. And you know what they say about opinions … That’s the difference between you and me, I do, you talk.

J. Lightning

P.S.: I won’t return to this site to see if you boys are done picking on me, you’ll hurt my feelings.

P.P.S.: This is an e-mail we received a week ago from an operator in Afghanistan who purchased a Special Combat and Survival System almost a year ago. This is somebody who has had real experience with our equipment.
“Mr. J Lightning,
This is SPC John Langford. I bought one of your special combat razrs a few months ago. I was chopping one day and the last chop went through and i nicked the blade a little on a rock or something. The nick is toward the point. Would there be anyway I could send it to you and have you get the bur out of the blade. If you don't remember me I am the one that bought your last leather sheath that could be used for horizontal carry. Anyway I do love the knife and sheath and really appreciate the quality. Thanks for your time.
SPC John Langford

RE: SPC Langford,

Absolutely, no worries! Simply send just the knife to us, well wrapped so it can't punch out the box, with a check enclosed for return shipping and insurance.
I will put a whole new edge on your knife and re-heat treat the edge so it will be the same as you bought it new, no charge.
Depending on how deep the nick is, I don't want to completely remove a flaw. I'll judge it, and do it accordingly, but understand that if there is something little left, if will come out eventually with future sharpenings. We just don't want to grind your knife away for no reason.
Anyhow, glad to fix it for you! If you're still around to beat it up that means you're still intact and that's much preferable!

Good to hear from you, stay safe,
J. Lightning “

Sir, we are not attacking you personally, grow a spine. we are attacking the ridiculous claims and marketing ("Operators", triple heat treating (with subsequent price increases), piranha jaws, an over priced sheath etc etc etc) , not to mention the prices.

I could afford your knife and sheath, but WHY? why would i spent almost $600 for a knife that was made by TOPS and that was perfectly fine to begin with?

Why would i spent $300 on a sheath like that? I can get a custom leather sheath with hand tooled artwork on it from a well known sheathmaker for less than than that nylon sheath. With the leftover money i could buy a full sized compass, fire steel, set of sharpening stones and a GPS and still have money left over to buy beer.

most soldiers i know sure as hell dont have $1000 for a knife. Especially when they are in an environment where they might lose their knife. Most soldiers i know use their leatherman tool more than they use a knife. In fact they rarely use a knife, except in the mess hall and thats a butter knife. They prefer to look thru a scope and squeeze off rounds from a distance. I do believe there has NOT been ONE documented incident of a soldier going hands on with a knife against an enemy combatant over in Iraq....correct me if i'm wrong. (in other words PROOF)

Who are these "operators"? Not one soldier I know has ever heard of any of their coworkers referred to as a "operator". The only operator they know is the one when you dial 0 on the tely.

Again, its NOT you were attacking, its the marketing, and the fact that a perfectly good knife has been altered and re-marketed, with wild claims attached.

I don't doubt that you've sold some of these however. If poepl are willing to pay $2000+ for a piece of toast with the Virgin mary on it in cheeze whiz, then i'm not surprised you have sold some of these knives.

.

I don't know ya, but I know your type.

I've never killed anyone, but have killed many critters. If I was a soldier and got scammed by you, or you scammed a family member of mine into buying me that Pakistanni POS for $1000.

I might consider looking you up.

I have seen bigger and better name brand equipment fail.

The bad part is the poor soldier thats gets your rip off Frost Cutlery factory made garbage, and actually has to depend on it to do what you have claimed!

ironic that he considers himself a designer, when in fact it appears he just buys other makers stuff, mods it a bit, then repackages it as something else.

I watched a movie a year or so ago, don't remember the name, that was supposed to be entirely true. It was about some soldiers in Iraq who were trying to get back to their camp. Anyway, in one scene they were pinned down and out of ammo. They played dead behind a dirt bank, and when their attackers got close, they drew their knives and went to work. Don't know if it's true or not, but the movie claimed it was.

If I hem my pants, does that make me a fashion designer? :D

Sir, we are not attacking you personally, grow a spine.

Well, not quite true. I did mention his man-boobs. He sure grew those.

Actually, there have been several documented cases, where knife or tomahawk was used successfully in close quarters. A guy who trains in my art and was active over there not only killed an insurgent with his knife, but also killed another insurgent with his K-pot (helmet) - whipped it off his head in one motion and cracked it over the bad guy's head, dropping him dead instantly. It probably has happened way more than we know.

Well, not quite true. I did mention his man-boobs. He sure grew those.

Are you sure about that? Maybe they are actually someone else's man-boobs that he modded with silicone and claimed as his own. :p

I am so tired of runny-nosed wanna-be’s, I could scream, and it makes me ill.

Unfortunately for you, wherever you go, there you are.

Maybe I’ll point a few real soldiers to your little site, that could make for good reading.

Well, it's about time, since, based on this statement, you just stupidly revealed that you are not one. Why the need to send real soldiers here if you're for real?

A knife made in Pakistan selling for $549, beyond stupid!!

A "Tactical Operator" with the name J. Lightning..........WOW

Maybe Duane Poland has changed his name again.......................

The $549 one is made by TOPS in the US (or it may be a knockoff from China). And $549 is the base model. They go up to $1500 with a sheath.

The Pakistan ones start at a low price of $279

JLightning, I can afford your knives, and I have designed and made a few things with my own hands. To me, that knife doesn't look like you did much design work yourself. It looks like you removed some metal from a knife that someone else designed.

You really seem to think that you are something, but you come across as a jackass. You're a pompous, condescending jerk, and I wouldn't spend one cent on anything you have made.

Keith you summarize my sentiments exactly. I CAN afford those knives...I choose not to buy knockoff's made by shills. I HAVE and STILL make my own knives like many here. Mr. Lighting, why dont you go to the makers forum and show some real knifemakers your skills? you can obviously grind metal away from an already functional knife......thats a good start.

Thanks, I stand corrected, $1500 for a junk knife..I am speechless

But then again I am no operator, just a wannabe Mall ninja silent killa. That J. Lightning guy sounds like a character out of a Video game, maybe they modeled all those war like games out of his real life cause he's such a hero

And yet another phoney hero type makes an appearance on BFC!!

Again, Sorry about the price mix up, I forgot it's been heat treated 3X's................

Edited to add that the TOPS version is top shelf and worth every cent.......................Smoka-J Lightning's ruined TOPS is junk!!

I work on a ship cutting bait but wish I were an operator
Then I would be the creme of the crop, a tactical Master-baitor!!!

I forgot it's been heat treated 3X's................

4X, actually for the guy that's sending it in with a chip. Perhaps someone should inform him that chipping may be an indication of a brittle blade, and that further hardening isn't necessary?? It's not like steel goes flaccid, sheesh...

It did take some guts to come here and stand alone for your product, Mr. Lightning, but these guys are very knowledgeable and know their knives. Some of your prices seem a little steep, and it would be nice to clarify if you make the "razr" from raw materials. Im sorry If we alienated you from this board.

Actually it varies.

SSR Razr - HT 2 times (One from TOPS, one from :jerkit:)

Black Tactical Razr - HT 3 times (One from TOPS, two from :jerkit:)

Special Combat Razr - HT 7 times (One from TOPS, 6 from :jerkit:) and has a "Maximum tough Samurai extreme edge" and a "Polished saw for silent cutting"

So the additional HT for the soldier, could make it 8, depending on his version.
