Actually it varies.

SSR Razr - HT 2 times (One from TOPS, one from :jerkit:)

Black Tactical Razr - HT 3 times (One from TOPS, two from :jerkit:)

Special Combat Razr - HT 7 times (One from TOPS, 6 from :jerkit:) and has a "Maximum tough Samurai extreme edge" and a "Polished saw for silent cutting"

So the additional HT for the soldier, could make it 8, depending on his version.

seriously? i thought that three heat treats were pushing it...

He still hasnt answered any of our questions like:
how he heat treated the oss,
what kind of "tactical operator" he is,
what a soldier would do with a $275 pakistani damascus blade he cant sharpen.
etc. etc. etc..........

Dear Christ! Look what my little post turned into! I am still in absolute..duuugghhh about that guys reply. Well my fellow forumites, here is what I prupose. With the gracious invitation that M. Thunder....err..F. Rainstorm...K. drizzle.. damn, OH YEAH J. LIGHTNING! extended, I say ROADTRIP!
if his shop is that advanced, I for one would love to go see it! (but Im also a confrontational smart-ass who spent enough time in public service to dislike the pub..err NM)
So anyhow, Im in and no joke, I say we take a field trip and see one of these things built from scratch!
Hope he has groceries, I like to eat!

P.S. Oh Yeah, I'm looking for 1 or 2 business partners to help market and sale this whole Tactical Dental Floss" thing. Ill make a website of me building a lean-to shelter and tying sticks together with it while dressed in BDU's. we'll sale more floss than Johnson & Johnson, itll be great! hahahaha I kill me!

Dental floss is quite good for lashing light branches together to for a framework for a field-expedient shelter. International Orange for civs wanting to be found. OD/Foliage Green for High Speed. Low Drag Operators who don't want to be found.

where do i buy the tactical non signature silent tactical flat black tactical floss? I need it for after I chill with my Special Tactical Cell Tactical De-Animator Merc Ops HALO team Operators that i meet every friday night at Starbucks, We drink no foam tactical blend coffee designed for tactical operators.

what was I asking again? i got lost for a minutes, my tactical compass on the tactical sheath steered me wrong. i'm trying to navigate silently from the front counter to the pastry counter, they have special ops tactical brownies for sale. I think they have special tactical chocolate chips in them.

oh, uh nevermind. found my way.

can i get a refill of Special Merc Ops Tactical dark roast, in my silent and deadly tactical operators mug? ah cool! looks like us special operators get a special discount, only for tactical operators.

Man, I was all set to buy this knife from the testimonials on his page when I noticed 2 very important details:

-the decimal in the price is 2 places too far to the right;

-it can't stand on it's butt.

I wasn't surprised by his "I won't come back here" response. He realizes he would get his ass handed to him by several BF members here who have already posted here.
Informative and enjoyable read so far.

I keep trying to understand how a guy with a made up name of J. Lightning could bamboozle enough poor soldiers into paying top dollar for a Pakistani junk knife. I am amazed he is still in business with such bull crap like he writes about that absolutely ugly, poorly made worthless $750 knife that "cuts at the very slightest touch" therefore making it "very dangerous".

I don't know if I should laugh, be angry that an idiot like this moron is trying hard to damage the image of knifeknuts or to puke at the garbage this fool spews.
Heat treat a knife after sharpening to do what, make it even more brittle?????

Well, we don't know if he's really sold anything for sure...

I wrote in my post - and to him: "If I had a nickel for all the anonymous assholes who challenged me when I called them on their bullshit - and never showed - I'd be a rich man." His response was to "Come on over, Junior!" So, I wrote back (at 2:14 pm EST) suggesting a specific time-frame. Nothing...

...Can anybody spare another nickel?

I does not seem cost-effective to mail you an actual nickle. So here's an imaginary nickle:

(Hmmmmmm; if you sharpened an edge on a nickle and spray-painted in flat black, could it be . . . would it be . . . YES!!!!

what, a "tactical operators nickel" ?

Well, since the article in Tactical Knives said that the person who designed the Razr knife was John Peters, and since John Peters was the name Brian found while searching the domain registry for the Razr knife website, I'm goind to take a wild guess that the "J" in "J. Lightning" is for John, and that "Lightning" was a nickname given for the numerous, unnecessary heat treatments given to the knives. Of course, we are talking about Florida, so "lightning" could very well be the medium used to give the knives their special, numerous, unnecessary heat treatments.

Can't you just picture one of those knives attached to a lightning rod?:D

3G (AKA "G. Frightening")

I found something very frightening.

http://beautifulblades.com Go to the archives section, page 4, under John Peters. The Razr is listed.

He has actually sold knives on this website, I can't imagine what it sold for, most of their prices seem to be a little high to start with.

NO, I'M NOT STICKING UP FOR HIM.

So, you self-proclaimed “experts” have any real survival experience, or background at all, and I don’t mean a weekend survival school?

What exactly is your experience?

Do any of you geniuses have any first-hand knowledge of our gear? Or even second-hand?

While I don't claim to be a "genius," I don't have any first-hand experience with your gear. I like to get the most for my money, not the other way around. The only second-hand knowledge of your gear I have is having read Steven Dick's review of the Razr knife in Tactical Knives magazine.

I’ve had enough field experience not to judge any equipment before I’ve spent at least a week or better in the weeds with it.

Well, there are plenty of weeds around my yard, but I don't think spending a week in them with your knife would help me justify paying what I feel is far too high a price for the product. Do you offer a money back, satisfaction guarantee?

What qualifications do any of you have? None, I bet, for the reasons I’ve just stated.

Well, I have handled the similarly styled Tracker knife, the Timber Pig, and several WSK style knives, none of which I was "sold" on.

The only opinion that I value is from professionals, not wanna-be’s.

What kind of "professional" do you mean? Please be specific. Do you mean "professional" Military, LEO, Firefighter/EMT, Instructor, Nurse, or Digital Data Technician?

You guys need some real experiences and maybe you’d have something real to talk about.

Please stop being so vague. What do you consider a "real experience?" For all I know, I may have had one or two of those, if of course you are talking about experiencing having to cut something with a knife. Using a knife to cut/chop, is the only "real experience" I can think of that is really pertinent to a knife related discussion like this, and I'm sure almost everybody here has that "experience".

We get feedback from real men, soldiers that put their life on the line every day, sending us letters about combat encounters, using our Razr in combat, as entry tools, popping windows and doors, using it to break seat brackets to free trapped gunners that have the side of their armored vehicle caved in on them, and they had to be extracted with the chair, etc. ….

Do you know of any photographs or videos that exist with your product being used by the above mentioned people, and would you kindly produce some or provide a link where they can be seen?

We send boxes of field munchies to theses men, with their gear, and they send us souvenirs and letters of thanks for our tough gear and support to our troops.

Care packages are a great way of showing support to our troops, I agree.

These are real professionals, maybe you should send them some of your third-hand opinions and see what they think.

Do you offer a discount to any of these "real men" and "professionals?" I didn't happen to notice one offered anywhere your website.

I am so tired of runny-nosed wanna-be’s, I could scream, and it makes me ill.

What was your non-wanna-be, "professional experience" again? Your bio information on your website is kind of vague, though it says you were an "operator."

You all don’t have what it takes to be real field operators, or you would be, so the best you could do is stay in the comfort of home and try to impress everyone with your banter.

Once again, please stop being so vague. What specific occupations/MOS's do you think qualify one as a "real field operator," and how exactly were you/are you one?

You know, it’s sad and even pathetic that you waste your time (and other people’s) hiding behind a computer, insult and ridicule someone and something you know nothing about at all.

Well, Mr. Lightning, we are talking about knives, are we not? And this is the biggest knife discussion forum on the net, is it not?

You can’t afford my products, so you sit behind a computer and gossip like old ladies in a sewing circle. Really guys, take a look at yourselves!

I don't really think it is a question of being able to "afford" your products, as I personally have a few custom knives that cost much more than most of your products. I think it is more a question of being able to justify the prices you are asking. I don't think your products offer any functional advantage over other knives that are much more affordable.

I don’t have to ask any of you what any of you ever designed, invested in, or had the initiative to develop, ever, much less built with your own hands. Dumb question, I already know the answer: absolutely nothing.
Know why? Because you can’t, plain and simple. That’s why you’re doing what you’re doing right now.

That is pretty impressive! You must not be aware that several makers post here (heck, some have posted in this thread).

3G
