Anyone Want to Talk Traditional Fixed Blades?

Beautiful N.Y. Special, Gary! Steingass does some fine work!!

Thanks Gev. Tim makes a nice knife for the money. Being a New Yorker (Central NY though) I had to have one!

Peregrin - those look like some heckuva nice scales on that NY Special.

The scales are real nice. Thanks for the comment. I think they have darkened some since I got the knife. If I recall correctly Ironwood tends to do that.

Thanks Primble. You've been posting some great looking knives yourself lately. I commented in another thread how much I like that Humphrey "Brute De Forge". It's worth mentioning again. What a great looking knife!

I do have a few more fixed blades squirreled away that I'll try and add to this thread.

Here's one from Tim Steingass. It's his rendition of the Loveless New York Special. Really great presentation ironwood with red liners on this one. I didn't capture it very well though.

I have been trading soup for Gass lately - well - in a round about way ! ;):D:D:D

You could grind them out with stones or a belt sander. If you do, you will thin down the blade.

I don’t know how much difference that would make for you.

If you use it as a fillet knife, no problem. If you want it in an emergency kit—think carefully.

Deer season opened up this weekend in Texas! My 3 whitetail knives for this season:
Steingass, Seward, and Lloyd

Great lineup Lhpanther.

This one of my favorites and I love when I get a chance to carry it,

Forged from 1084 by the legendary, John White M.S., now deceased. Pre-ban elephant ivory and nickel silver. The sheath made to my specs by Paul Long, not an easy sheath to make, Cape Buffalo inlay and bow tie. The Sam Browne stud was file worked by John.

Kris, posting that brings back both good and sad memories, but mostly good. Beautiful knife.

Thanks for the kind words. John was my favorite knife maker and I happy to own one of his fine knives. My friend is a prominent collector, who was very good friends with John, and has some really nice pieces that the public has not seen. John was also an amazing wood worker, his canoe's are off the charts. Speaking of canoe's, Karl Andersen makes a fine canoe and a great knife. My knife from Karl and sheath from David Seward are with Caleb right now getting proper pics, and I am very excited to share them when they are done.

Kris

Thank you Ferahgo. :)

Great Steingass knives, Primble. That sub hilt fighter is just gorgeous. I think I like the Drop Point a little more since I don't do much knife fighting.....

Great pics!
