Why not? It takes only minutes, and you can ALWAYS find something to chop :D It's good stress relief. You could always just get a 6 dollar Tramontina and not even worry about it...

1) Because I'm a noob. I've never oiled a knife or a gun. I'm not sure how to do it :(
Is it just like 409'ing a kitchen countertop? :P I can do that very well. ha

2) What I don't want to happen is for me to damage my knife. Maybe like I put too much oil, or oil in the wrong spot.

3) Where to buy a great product. I've never shopped for this stuff.
 
don't think there's a wrong spot to oil 'em. the only places that need it are the engravings and the exposed edge. you could always wax 'em, it'll last longer, if you're not using them anyway.
 
It doesn't matter-just an even coat over all the exposed metal with a terrycloth rag or a cotton ball. you could buy a 4 dollar silicone birchwood casey rag at walmart and literally one pass on each side of the blade and you're good. Nothing you do storage wise will damage your blade as long as you keep it clean and coated.
 
New gun brainstorming time. At first when this rifle was about to come out everyone was thinking it'd be $1500 maximum but, when it did finally come out its MSRP was $2600. The rifle I speak of is the Bushmaster ACR. I got pissed when they announced the price and wrote it off. But, for some reason now that I can actually buy one for right at $2000. A lot of money for pretty much a plastic piston ar15 but, having built and sold 10+ ar15's I hope the ACR will have a special place in my safe.

I'm thinking of getting the basic rifle and putting the enhanced sliding and folding stock on it. I really hate all the tacticool useless rails on everything now days so the regular handguards work great for me. Will probably also get the barrel cut down to 13" and have a Noveske KX3 permanently attached to give it that Magpul Masada look.

Now just have to wait closer to Christmas :(

I think Magpul should have stuck with it and sold it to someone other than Bushmaster. I think it’s a cool gun but I’d be looking hard at the XCR as well. I’ve been agreeing with Payette lately. Scary…. :D

Funny you should say the XCR. Its actually the rifle that will be getting sold to help fund the ACR :)

The XCR is alright but I'm tired of full length rail handguards. And since its integrated into the rifle I can't change it, so its getting sold.
 
Just used a program called Pimp My Gun and came up with this. Pretty close to what I'd want it to look like one day.

The barrel would be about 2" longer I'd say since the program didn't have a 13" barrel option. Had to use a 10.5"
 
Funny, how the ultimate modular rifles these days aren't quite so modular...
IMO, all these crazy overexpensive piston designs are all in vein attempt to mimmick the REAL ultimate assault rifle- a Stg90. You can buy the PE version for about 8000 bucks in the states, and about 600 in Switzerland... I know of a guy in canada that will do all the import paperwork for about 300 so eventually I'll try to pursue that route.

Yes doesn't worry me at all though. Lots of guns have had recalls. Just glad they own up to it instead of denying anything and leaving people hanging.
