AR-15: America's Rifle

I cant post pics yet but I have a Spikes Mid with a magpul UBR stock and magpul grip and foregrip. And the a SPR with spikes billit upper and lower built from scratch, about $3,000 in it and its a tac driver.

Lots of really handsome-looking rifles in this thread. Just got to a good stopping point on mine recently (they're never really done, are they?). It's my first build and I did it pretty much from scratch. The problem is, they're as much fun to build as they are to shoot. I need to convince my wife that I need another. :D

HeyMatthew, looks like you need to change that A2 bird cage out for a compensator :) In case you were looking for somewhere else to mod the gun, haha.

Like I needed help figuring out how to spend money on gun stuff... Now that you mention it though, I'm thinking you're right. Any recommendations? :)

My 3. Nothing special compared to some in this thread:thumbup:.

Bought the 20" SP1 tri guard new back in 79ish. Built the 11.5" CAR15 in 84. 16" Bushy bought new late 08 during another gear up(market crash and Obummer). I've run most type of optics on them. I'm back to irons on 2 of'm. I've killed several whitetail deer with the 20 and 11.5".

If I may, Battlecomp of your choosing, PWS CQB comp, KAC triple tap if you're loaded, AAC brakeout, AAC 51t brake, BCM mod 0, Noveske KX3, surefire MB556k, rainier arms mini, troy claymore/medival, YHM phantom if you're poor

ETA: Depends if you need a suppressor host or not.
Brakes are brutal indoors and can suck outdoors even on a 16".
AAC brakeout on a MK18 will rattle your fillings, exponentially worse if you're not the shooter.

A decent flashhider is another option - smith vortex or AAC blackout

ETA 2: BCM gunfighter charging handles are amazing, huh!

Really, really love the idea of the AAC 51t. Looks good, has some neat functionality, and will still allow me to mount my golf ball launcher to the front of it. Done deal. I'll be ordering one this weekend. Thanks for the recommendation!!! As for the BCM charging handles... Yes. One of the most comfortable I've used and is just a really well-made component. My BCG is from them as well and it's a really well-machined component. I've not been disappointed with anything I've purchased from BCM.

Wow... Most people just stick people with a fork if they reach over their plate. You just straight up take 'em out. Remind me to never bother you while you're eating. Then again... With the high price of beef these days, I guess it's similar to protecting gold so I can see the need for extra protection. LOL! :D

Good meals need protection.

Izula II pulling steak knife duty again.

Cornish game hens...The fail in this pic is that my wife insisted we used the extra napkins that came with our bagels that morning and not just throw them away.

Since she puts up with my shenanigans...I.E. artillery on the table before dinner, I must oblige .

I see the Izula gets pulled for steak duty often. (Another AR in this shot.)

Hi xring04, what do you think of that CZ-83? Nice pics you have there, and a nicer wife to put up with guns on the table.

2 months ago I had no clue where to begin with even researching AR15s. As of a few days ago, I completed this from total scratch.

Have a Geissele SSA coming to me soon, that should be it for awhile.

Now that is one sexy AR

I do love billet receivers :) How is the Fortis rail?

I've had my Mega stripped upper and lower for months now, and the only head way I've made is a pistol buffer kit, dust cover kit, and forward assist. In the mean time, I've picked up 5 other guns and could have easily used that cash to complete my pistol/sbr :o

ETA, whoops, missed this

What lower is that? Looks like it would be a good choice for a dedicated hunting AR (which would mean 10rnd mags only).

That's a Seekins billet lower.

It is a Seekins, and I don't know about the 10 rounders, don't have a use for them ;) 20s look okay, 30s look cool, Surefire 60rd is bad ars, but it does bottom on the flared mag and ding it a little

Thanks guys. I haven't shot it yet, but so far the Fortis rail at least feels great in hand and is stupid light. I think I weighed it to be something like 8oz for the 14" version. Have to find some plinking ammo and a decent range for rifles to check it out.
