Are Spyderco Prices becoming unreachable?

I was lucky enough to get the new Manix 2 15V last week for $157.50. The Manix 2 always has a very good price on sprints and exclusives.

Fit and finish looked perfect, action good. It did have a tiny bit of side to side blade play, but a slight tightening of the pivot fixed that, not a big deal for me.
I noticed a loose rattle when laying the knife down on the table but never gave it much thought. Last night I see that the lanyard tube on the clip side is not tight against the scales. It can be "pried" apart with a finger. The lanyard tube is the only thing holding the knife together on the tail end.

I wont send it back since its a sprint run, maybe buy some after market scales.

Im not here to bash Spyderco, they are my favorite knives, but if you keep raising the price, the knives should arrive in perfect condition
Food for thought, that 15V knife costs less than the materials and consumables you would need to make one yourself.

The second sentence in my post says the Manix 2 sprints or exclusives are always priced well compared to other models.

I have 8 Manix's, its one of my favorite knives in the Spyderco line up. The loose lanyard tube got me to pull them all out and check them for the same issue.
My Rex45 G10 Sprint has the exact same problem.

My point is I paid the asking price $157.50, with no discounts, (which is great in my opinion) but the knife came with a flaw.

Whats your food for thought?

Yet you care enough to post.
So, fill me in on the charity you speak of?
It was irony, such reasons are always given when prices are discussed: caring about small shops when rising MAP, caring about subcontractors when Spydercos made in Japan of basic materials like FRN and VG-10 are ridiculously priced.

Knives in general have gotten too expensive! That said my fave factory knife from 2022 was a K390 Endura so I just bought another Endura in ZDP-189 that's on special at Knifecenter.

There are still good deals if you hunt around but I do find I am buying a lot less these days.

Looks like some retailers are showing the new prices. US-made Spydercos are up about 8-9%. Not too bad.

Always wanted a Spyderco and still do but I always feel blade play in the compression lock. For that reason the price seems steep
Are the knives you found play on new or been ‘adjusted’? I have a PM2 that is over 10 yrs old and gets carried/used daily and still tight. I hope you check some others out- they make some great knives.

The Endura is by far the best knife I’ve never owned. I’m on my second PacSalt and just grabbed a Matriarch. They’re great so undoubtedly the straight-up Endura must be as well.

Just ordered a police 4 before the price increase hits the seki models. Saw a black dlc pm2 is now a $200 knife. Was hoping to get a military 2 when it comes out but it looks like it might be priced out of my reach

I'd contemplated one for years before I got the K390 one and now I see the light. All that cutting power in such a lightweight package cannot be ignored!

You can get a PM2 from more than one outlet for less than that and with an upgraded steel to boot!

I was talking about a website who has adopted the new price increase. I'm aware other vendors are selling it for less but soon everyone will have to raise their prices too (at least that's what happened last year)

Thanks appreciated... I will do.

My C10 Endura, carried from 1994-2013. It was worth it then.

Said it before, but I think Spyderco could have charged $230 for that knife and it still would have sold out instantly.
