What sharpening system do you guys suggest for everything? Not gonna be able to afford different ones for different uses so I've gotta try to find one that will just about do it all. I'm going to get a small strop to go along with it, whatever "it" is..

Go to Home Depot and get the Norton econo stone for $6. It's 100/400 grit. It WILL sharpen everything. But 400 makes a toothy edge (think of the factory edge on a large Becker). Then a strop and some compound. If you want something to better refine your edge, you can add some higher grit stones, but you don't NEED them. And if you decide you don't like the stone, then you're only out $6.

Why do people feel the need to quote a post that has mega photos in it, so you have to scroll through the photos twice to get to what the next poster says?

What annoys me, is when the first person to reply in a thread quotes the original post. Like we couldn't figure out who they were talking to.

How's the fossil hunting been lately?

There's been a new spot, temporary construction site exposing Miocene layers. I'm not sure if I've posted pics or not. Here are some... The construction is coming to a close so these sands will be underneath concrete sooner rather than later.

Right. That's what annoys me too. When the first few people to respond do it.

Really though, it makes no sense to me. It really isn't too bad on bfc. I've been on a fee other forums where almost every topic has the original post quoted in the first reply. Drove me bonkers and I quit reading them.

So, earlier this morning I get a text from one of our ladies at church. I am one of the chairman's for our county fair booth, so I have the keys to the place, evidently she has some dishes she needs to get out of storage and she has gottne with me to meet here to let her in, this was the conversation via text. Heres the text. Seems she didn't get or appreciate my sense of humor.

From some of the church ladies I've met, I can see how you thought that was an invitation to imbibe with her.

Lol. It's a bit early for a 5th. A pint on the other hand....

Stock, bipod, monopod, and extra mags come today. Excited.

No school for my kids today though... Not even sure why really... Says "in service day, no school"

Kind of an oxymoron... In service but not in school.... Oh well.

Moon showed up around 2am. Missed the good stuff.... Well actually, more moonshine showed up Saturday so I got the good stuff haha

:D

Cool stuff GShark! (I was gonna quote your whole post, but didn't wanna incur the wrath of AC and Dubz [emoji6] ). Are those shells lying in the dirt in the last pic where you're using the screen boxes? If so that's quite the deposit…

Yes. Those shelly layers are clearly visible in the first picture. The top layers are pretty much spot on horizontal, whereas a few feet lower you can see another shelly layer which has a wavey pattern. It's beneath the latter that there's a thin layer with pebbles containing shark teeth. The shell layers are almost (though not quite) sterile with regards to shark teeth. They're dominated by the genus Glycymeris, though there are some other bivalve and gastropod genera, as well as some species of coral, sea urchin (mostly spines) and fish vertebrae and ear bones (otoliths). Teeth are sparse and often worn/eroded. For a shell collector they're a Walhalla of sorts :)...

Awesome score G!

It may be about time to start looking for another puppy to add to our family...

Requirements, over 50 pounds full grown, great in the heat, and likes to go on long hikes through the woods.

Neko gives up and about dies when we hit 2 miles. Hell, sometimes he is done after half a mile... That's not going to do lol...

Pfft, You can't drink all day if you don't start off with a 5th in the morning.

I need to upload my pictures from yesterday. We went up north and popped off a few rounds of my bro's new-to-him mini-14. My kids loved it haha.

Not only that, but when those same goofs have sig-"lines" composed of every animated gif that ever caught their eye, taking up half a page... PLUS entire quotes and 17 previously-posted photos, instead of just the relevant parts... all that just to say "nice knife bruh" :grumpy:
