No, I'm not "the knife guy," because I'm a high school teacher, and I mostly keep it on the down-low. I carry my SAK every day, and even that knife pushes the boundaries of what is acceptable in a school. Anything other than a small pocket knife could be considered a weapon. Making and collecting knives exists in a completely different universe than most academic people occupy.

I think that if I was going to hurt anyone, it would have happened long ago. I see a SAK as a tool, the public often sees a weapon. Although I actually know some women in responsible work positions that carry a key ring knife for self protection. It's all about perception I suppose.
