Are ZT knives worth it?

Never had any ZT knives but I think I found one which will end up in my pocket, the ZT 0301 with blackwashed blade and handles now thats a sexy looking beast. One of the best looking knives I seen, with all the quality and durability of zt 301 it is a keeper. Now if you excuse me got to go and order one .Cheers.:)

Understand.

Those weren't my words, I just agreed with them. That is my opinion (think I get one of those ;)) I'll continue to stand by my opinion (of which you didn't like, hopefully there is a 2 way street here?), as a few comments were a bit transparent in my eyes, and apparently a with few others as well.

Yes, you are welcome to have your opinion that there are people in this thread that have agenda's and axes to grind with ZT.

I feel you are dead wrong though. If you really feel this way I won't be recommending ZT again.

I'm unsure I understand your question? I'm also unsure I asked you for further justification of your opinion.

Now you an Ken haven't been talking, have you? :)

Sorry you didn't ask me to further justify my opinion...you asked me to "qualify" it.

Sure I understand.

ZT's aren't for everyone, but I think to say they are over-hyped or not worth the money needs qualifying. I mean if you can't qualify your statements, why make a post? Worse yet, when you get called to qualify it, one shouldn't get sensitive IMO. We're just talking here, it's what we do here on the forum.

Thanks for qualifying. Slicer guy, got it.

Thanks for getting back on topic.

I was under the impression that the topic of this thread was "Are ZT knives worth it?", not "Tell us how ZT knives are worth it."

Are you saying arguing the "con" side of "Are ZT knives worth it?" is off-topic?

Maybe you can qualify that opinion. Fair's fair! :) Where is this ax I have to grind?

Are Zero Tolerance knives worth the money?

I believe so.

Wow, nine pages of opinions since my innocent reply to the original question.

I can understand folks not liking the designs and/or the design philosophy of ZT Knives, but it's hard for me to understand how anyone familiar with the premium folding knife segment can think that the knives are not worth the price they're sold at.

The quality of the materials and level of fit and finish speak volumes about KAI's commitment to building high quality knives here in the USA.

I applaud their expanding their product line, and hope they continue to do well in the market.

Just one experienced knife users opinion.

Thanks for getting back on topic.

I guess I misread the topic. Didn't see where it said "only positive responses allowed". Wait a minute! I'm getting deja vu all over again! Is that you Thomas?

:) Let's try to cool down a bit here. I'm sure you're not out looking for opportunities to pounce on the brand, sorry if you made to feel that way.

IMO, marcinek has a point. You did call him out on justifying his opinions. Who has the axe to grind, in your opinion, based on the "transparent" comments?

I love my Kai gear (from my Kershaws, to my ZTs, to my Shuns) but fair is fair.

I'm sorry, I've now been informed that General is a place where people can voice there opinion without catching the business from the manufacturer. I didn't realize that, and don't much agree with that. I also don't agree that all posts about a specific should be positive, but should have a level of respect. We'll try to let General be a place where we don't "mod" as much in the future.

Ah. But when I'm asked to qualify my opinion, nobody needs to "cool down."

Since your comments are becoming increasingly "moderator-y," I will bow out after getting one last statement of my opinion on ZTs in.

In the course of this thread, I have gone from feeling that ZT knives are not worth the money because I don't put a premium on "overbuilt", to feeling KAI knives are not worth the money on principle, regardless of their style.

I'll keep it simple:
If one was lost, alone, in a forest or island or mountain or many other places and ZT knife was the only thing by ones side, I got a feeling one will be very grateful for the "brick" that was not "worth the price" to have while the knife works hard to keep you alive in all the tasks you assign it.

I'm also sure that the look will not be a factor then too.

I have a survivalist mentality so I see brawn ("brick in the pocket") and durability (quality of manufacturing that was "worth the price" to have them make a "overbuild tank") and I for one would believe anyone would be grateful to have such product in a time of need.

But we're talking about city life here right, thus by following city criteria wants of fashion flair? :p

That level of respect should go both ways.
Having the opinion that some in this thread have an agenda with ZT is showing us little respect.

You sound like a politician that would ban ALL streetlights because he was late to a meeting.

It's the PRINCIPLE!!

I'll jump in here and say that "worth" is a subjective thing. If a specific product doesn't interest you or fit your needs then it is "not worth YOUR money". Obviously the converse is true. If said product does interest you / fit your needs then it is "worth YOUR money".

I don't own a ZT yet but the 0550 is the first on my list of knives to purchase when the funds are available. So, it is worth the money TO ME.

Now, speaking objectively and comparing knives from different manufacturers (fit and finish, build quality, materials used, tolerances, etc), in my opinion, ZT knives are worth the money.

So your justification for carrying a ZT folder is that, if you somehow find yourself lost on a mountain, the knife will perform better at survival tasks than most other folders. (But not nearly as well as a fixed blade or hatchet.)
That doesn't make very much sense to me.

True but you're overgeneralizing. The subject here is the ZT knives, nothing else in this thread, thus I talked ZT knives. :)

You are welcome in my house.

Guess I'm confused, this is a ZT thread, we're ZT, we're communicating. That's what we do on this site. I'll be around, not just in the Kai sub-forum. If that is beyond you, I'm not sure how to respond.

We're just talking here. It's all ok. This is a pretty easy read for most everyone here. :D

No agenda or axe to grind here.

I think my ZT 0200 worth every penny I paid for it and then some and feel similarly about the Kershaw knives I have. In fact I've said in several threads the Tremor is the best knife I own for the money.

I don't agree however with your statement that "You are welcome in my house" in fact you've made in very clear in the Kai sub forum that decent or disparaging opinions are not exactly welcome. And I accept and respect that in your sub forum.

It does appear that you are branching out and trying to enforce that outside your sub-forum and "moderate" this thread here in the general forum.

Sorry but I really don't appreciate that and don't think it appropriate either.
