Arkansas Custom Knife Show - Preview of makers and knives

I'll finish this Subhilt Fighter soon and will have it to show.

Looking forward to seeing this one completed. Always been a fan of your sub-hilts.

There have been so many great knives posted already this promises to be quite the show. Friday night is going to be fun!

Doug, very nice integrals. I am looking forward to seeing them.

Bing, that's another beauty. Looks like you'll have a great table.

Man things are shaping up nicely going to be another great show I will be bringing 5 I hope and I would like to show one hare on this thread this is something new I am playing with and I am happy with how it's going. This is a stag takedown it has a steel plate fixed on a shelf I carved into the butt cap I then use a barrel nut to lock it up solid not using all the thread's of the barrel nut I am able to use a damascus finial I made and some index pins to lock on the butt cap. see you all in little rock safe travels.

Dave, this one has my interest. I like the straight Bowie blade and the ring in the collar is something I have not seen before. Gary

Thanks Folks Chris the blade is 7-1/2 OAL is 12-1/2 the spacer is stipple bronze Gary I am glad you like it the ring feels really good being flush with the spacer like that

That's a pretty one Dave!

I'm working on several, leap frogging them along.

Here is one I will be showing on my table even if it's just in progress. It's a Camp Knife that I would like to have for myself if I can hang on to it. The blade is 12 inches long and the shape is one patterned after one I designed for my son a while back which is 9 inches but he prefers that size. The profile has sort of a "leaf" shape that I like. This blade as I said is 12 inches and is .350 thick at the ricasso but has nice taper to it. You can see the bearing points on the guard slot where it contacts the back of the ricasso shoulders. I fit that by heating the guard (416 ss), while still in blocky form, and driving it down onto the shoulders. Then I shaped the guard staying off the slot area. Pretty tricky but I was willing to mess it up to see if I could do it. I drove up into the guard face enough to be able to come back and flatten it, settling the shoulders flush with the face. My intention is to make this a take down and to have it mate up solid.

Here is the start of the spacer assembly. I will file work the bronze when I can get a few minutes.

I am Looking forward to seeing this Lin I have been watching this one on your face book page, time is getting short pic one and get it done. My last one is just over 12" and I call it "Slim Bad" I really hope I can get it done.

Lin,

Looking forward to seeing this one up close. Very nice!

Dave,

Love the way that you mated the ring guard with the stag. You're quickly becoming "The Man" when it comes to a ring guard. You're an inspiration.

Dudley,

You're going to miss a good one. Sorry you can't make it.

I've one more in the works but probably won't have it done in time for any photos. [Hint: The Philadelphia company who made the original(s) has been credited by many with making the first Bowies with a sharpened clip.] Since this one will have a saber grind which will require some additional time hand finishing and as well as having a complex hilt it's going to require a good bit of time before completion.
